The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 551

"Then, why did you—"

Noelle was cut off as Erwin suddenly let out a laugh. Then, he took two steps back and slammed the door shut.

His movements were quick-so quick that Noelle didn't have time to react. By the time she processed what had happened, the door was already locked from the outside.

Noelle's expression darkened. She yanked hard on the doorknob. "What are you doing? Open the door!"

"I've already left the fever medicine inside," Erwin said from outside the door. "The doctor just came by and said that Hendrix will be fine as long as his fever goes down. As for the rest, that's up to you."

His words left Noelle frozen in place. After a moment, she began pounding on the door again. "Open the door! You lunatic! What does him being sick have anything to do with me?"

Her voice was sharp, but there was no response from outside. Erwin was already gone.

Noelle had no choice but to return to the room and try calling the hotel front desk using the landline. But she quickly discovered that Erwin had disabled the phone service.

To make matters worse, her phone was missing. She didn't even know Erwin had taken it.

Noelle had no choice but to search for Hendrix's phone. But if Erwin had managed to steal her phone right under her nose, there was no way he would have left Hendrix's phone behind.

Noelle sat down, trembling with anger. After a moment, she stood and walked over to the bed. "Hendrix."

He was lying there, deeply asleep. Perhaps because he was feeling cold, he was curled into a tight ball.

This was the first time Noelle had seen him look so vulnerable. But she felt no pity for him. All she felt was rage.

She shoved him hard. "Get up!"

Hendrix didn't stir. But as soon as Noelle touched him, she felt the alarming heat radiating from his body. He really did seem completely out of it.

Gritting her teeth, Noelle finally turned to look for the fever medicine. Erwin had prepared everything-medicine, cooling patches, and even a thermometer.

Having taken care of a child for over

two years, Noelle didn't need a

thermometer to know that Hendrix's

temperature was probably Res

100°F So she skipped the

thermometer and grabbed the medicine and a glass of water.

"Get up and take this," she said.noveldrama

Hendrix still didn't respond.

MS

Noelle closed her eyes for a moment, then decided to apply the cooling patch on him first. The icy sensation made his body jolt, and his brows furrowed even tighter.

Afraid he might pull the cooling patch off, Noelle pressed her hand firmly against it

to keep it in place.

At that moment, Hendrix's eyes

fluttered open. When he saw her, his expression seemed to shift. Then, he blinked several times, as if he

couldn't believe what he was seeing and was trying to make sense of it.

"Hurry up and take the medicine," Noelle said with a frown, holding the pill to his

lips.

But Hendrix didn't seem to hear her. Instead, he slowly raised his hand toward her face.

Noelle saw the moment and immediately stood up to avoid his hand.

Hendrix's hand froze midair. Then, he let out a soft laugh, his gaze lowering as he said, "Even in my dreams, you still hate me this much, huh?"
