The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 748

Tessa stared at Matthew in disbelief, as if he had walked straight out of hernoveldrama

hallucination. Her heart rate sped up as she thought of the reasons Matthew could have to show up here.

Just why was Matthew here? Maybe he heard that Tessa was hospitalized and came to visit her.

With just that thought in mind, Tessa felt a glow of warmth settling within her heart, feeling giddy with joy in an instant. She then happily skipped up to him.

From the moment the elevator doors opened, Matthew had let go of Rachel's hand and walked out side by side. He never expected to see Tessa the moment

he walked out, but he continued on after glancing at her.

When he saw how Tessa reached her arms out while heading toward him, Matthew frowned and stepped aside, making Tessa miss. She then froze with her arms stretched out in mid-air and remained stumped for a while.

"Why is Matthew dodging me? Isn't he here to visit me? Was I wrong?" Tessa thought.

She had been so excited earlier that she almost burst out crying happily. She had finally met her beacon of hope, but unexpectedly, it wasn't here for her.

Tessa collapsed to the ground dramatically, denial swirling within. She then turned her head and yelled, "Matthew, you... Aren't you here to visit me?"

After a moment's hesitation, Matthew answered, "I'm not!"

Upon his response, Tessa's face turned a pale white. The more she thought about his answer, the more displeased she became.

Thus, she decided to test the waters once more. "Matthew, I'm extremely sick now, and I'll be dying soon. I've only got less than a month to live, so won't you forgive me for the sake of it?"

Matthew was stunned. He never thought that Tessa would be dying soon, but he still took a look at her face.

Though Tessa had a pale face and a pair of discolored lips, her eyes still held a spark behind those tears of hers. Besides, the tips of her ears were still pinkish, and her black hair was healthy and glossy.

She hardly looked as if she was on death's door, and Matthew figured that she was at most, weakened by the medications she was given.

As such, Matthew shook his head and said, "You don't look like you're dying anytime soon, but it's honestly none of my business even if you really are dying."

Immediately, Tessa felt her heart wrenching up in pain. She took in a deep breath before she added quietly, "I mean, we used to be husband and wife, after all.

"They say that even a single day would be enough to create a lasting bond, and with how long we had been together, it should last us forever, right? Can't you forgive me in the name of all our time spent together?"

Matthew remained stoic in silence. Had Tessa forgotten that she had just sent a bunch of men to beat Matthew up a few days ago? Just what was she trying to pull now?

Then, Tessa spoke up again, "I am Lori's mother, after all. You should forgive me for the very sake of that."

Upon hearing that, Matthew scoffed. It was absolutely absurd for Tessa to use Lorraine as an excuse. After their divorce, Tessa had tried to do everything- earning money, starting her own business, causing trouble for Matthew-but visit Lorraine and buy gifts for her.

Seeing how Matthew reacted, Tessa became even more dissatisfied, and her expression turned even uglier. She then stared at Matthew and said, "Are you really not going to forgive me even if I die?"

Matthew replied casually, "Of course not. I'd forgive you if you were to die."

Having heard that, Tessa became overjoyed. Her chance at emotional manipulation had worked on Matthew, and he had finally softened up for her. Now that the opportunity had arrived, Tessa had to seize it and make them get together again. As she walked up to Matthew, she secretly prided herself on being able to come up with such an excuse to make Matthew stay.

"I knew you'd forgive me. This disease of mine can't be cured, so let me go home with you. From today onward, we'll continue to live as a family of three..." Tessa started.

At once, Matthew stretched his arm out to stop her, putting a distance between them. "Stop right there. What I meant was that I'd forgive you after you're dead. I won't hold grudges over a dead person, but I'd never forgive you as long as you're still alive!"

With that, Matthew turned to leave.

The smile on Tessa's face stiffened immediately, and she gritted her teeth furiously when she saw Matthew walking away. "I'll be dead soon, so why won't you forgive me already, Matthew? Why? I fucking hate you!"

At that moment, Tessa's face was contorted with anger, and she had lost all trace

of beauty present on her face. Her eyes burned with spite and madness, and it grew with intensity so quickly that it overrode her other senses.
