The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 561

Rachel looked hesitant. On her first day after taking over Wealthwave Group, Fred warned her not to go against the government as a civilian.

Meanwhile, Wyatt had a point. No matter how rich a business person was, one word from the wrong person could spell disaster.

But the Carter family didn't get this far without some backing. Unfortunately, the Carter family had run into problems. As Fred got older, the few people close to him were aging too. Some had retired, and some had passed away.

The Carter family didn't have the same influence they used to enjoy.

Just as Rachel was hesitating, Matthew chimed in. "I can head over to Arcadia."

Him? Wyatt raised an eyebrow. "If you're merely a hired thug of the Carter family like Mr. Thomson. You don't have the right to represent Ms. Carter at Arcadia."

From Wyatt's perspective, Matthew was just hired muscle like Patrick. Even though he was stronger than Patrick, he was nothing more than a thug, making him ineligible to even be part of the conversation.

Matthew said to Rachel, "Tell him who I am."

Rachel quickly understood that Matthew needed a proper and respectable identity. "He's the vice president of Wealthwave Group. He has the authority to act on behalf of the company."

Even though the conversation was brief, she decided to have Matthew go for it. The Carter family wasn't managing a small company that could be easily pushed around. If there was a problem, they would resolve it. If that couldn't be done, they could just throw money at it anyway.

Vice president? A hint of doubt flashed in Wyatt's eyes. A hired thug was just a low-level nobody. How did he become a vice president?

Perhaps it was possible 20 years ago. Back then, people were lawless and violent. Rackets and scams stirred things up all the time. Hiring a tough and solid enforcer in the company was important to deal with these pesky troublemakers.noveldrama

But times had changed. Everyone lived in a capitalist society with the ultimate goal of making it big.

Wyatt put people into categories like government officials, business people, workers, and farmers. However, he believed that everyone was running a business with their own ways of making money.

Farmers relied on agriculture or working other people's lands. The workers earned money by clocking in at jobs.

In all walks of life, people racked their brains to make money. It didn't matter the differences in their status, education, or background.

Hardly anyone solely worked for an

underworld organization and operated through rackets. So, the practice of having a thug as a vice president in the company had faded away.

At this point, companies looked for a vice president with background, connections,

and status, preferably if they were a nephew of a bureau chief or a mayor.

So, upon learning that Wealthwave Group had a thug as a vice president, Wyatt was bewildered.

"In that case, I'll check in with the boss and see if he has time to meet."

With that, Wyatt stepped aside and made a call. Two minutes later, he returned. "My boss is super busy and doesn't have time today. Let's do it tomorrow. Come to Arcadia,

and call me when you get here."

As Wyatt spoke, he pulled out a business card and placed it on the table before

walking off with the glamorous woman.

Only Matthew and Rachel were left in the room. Matthew grabbed the business card and put it away.

"I'll swing by Arcadia tomorrow and make sure to get the formula back to you."

However, Rachel wasn't feeling that optimistic. Things might not go smoothly, but it's still a good idea for you to head there. I'd prefer not to confront Wyatt's backers directly. If the negotiation falls apart, we'll be out of options.

"Your main job at Arcadia is to figure out who's behind Wyatt. Don't jump into asking for the formula just yet. Got it?"

Matthew chuckled. "I'm there to get the formula. With what you said, if they give me the formula, should I take it or not?"

Rachel rolled her eyes at Matthew. "Stop pulling my leg. It won't be easy to get the formula back. You might not even get to see the formula tomorrow."
