The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 293 If I Don't Take Risks, I Won't Get What I Want

Landon felt like his brain was about to fry. Had tech really advanced this much?

Alexander sat nearby, looking grim. His eyes were locked on Allison. She had just woken up and was already asking for Landon, which naturally pissed him off.

"Ms. Bennett, don't worry. I'll make sure Patricia is protected and that no one gets near her. But since she's not like ordinary people, how do we contain her?" Landon asked.

"Dwight's lab has a magnetic isolation chamber. Lock her in there; she won't be able to go anywhere!" Allison replied.

Landon nodded and rushed off to handle it.

Allison felt dizzy and lightheaded from the blood loss, her head buzzing. She turned to look at Alexander's dark expression and smiled. "Want to hit me? Go ahead, take your shot!"

"Allison, do you really think I won't?" Alexander asked.

Allison sighed, her head spinning, and Alexander's face seemed to blur in and out of focus.

"I know you're mad. I knew Patricia was dangerous and still let her catch me. But if I didn't take the risk, I wouldn't have found out what I needed to know. If I hadn't followed her, I wouldn't have discovered the unusual things about her." As she spoke, Allison's eyes closed, and she passed out.

Alexander was nearly scared out of his wits and quickly called for Henry. After examining her, Henry's face turned serious. "Don't let her see anyone. She needs to rest. She's lost too much blood and is very weak."

Alexander's face was dark, and Henry didn't dare stay any longer. He quickly left.

Even in her sleep, Allison frowned. The pain from her wounds was intense, but she refused to use a pain pump, worried it might numb her nervous system. For a surgeon, that was unacceptable.

If her nervous system lost its sensitivity, the precision of her scalpel would be compromised.

So, no matter what, Allison always toughed it out when she was injured, rarely using anesthesia.

"What am I going to do with you, Allison?" Alexander asked.

Allison slept fitfully, and Alexander, feeling heartbroken, held her hand. "Allison, I'm here. If it hurts, just tell me."

The Carter family still didn't know about Allison's condition. Declan and the others kept

it a secret. Christmas was approaching, and Alexander had planned to celebrate, but they ended up spending it in the hospital.

He had even set up a Christmas tree in the hospital room, complete with gifts. When Allison woke up and saw it, she was delighted.

"What gifts did you prepare?" Allison asked.

"If you like them, open them!" Alexander responded.

Allison shook her head. "We can only open them on Christmas Eve. I'll wait until tonight!"

Alexander picked her up and placed her on the couch, where she could reach the gifts on the tree.noveldrama

"Take your pick. I'll help you open it," Alexander said.

Allison pointed to one, and Alexander opened it for her. It was a diamond necklace.

It was clearly no ordinary necklace. From Allison's perspective, it was worth at least a few million dollars.

"Alexander, you're showing off again!" Allison teased.

Alexander laughed and wrapped his arms around her waist. "All my wealth is yours. It'd be a waste not to spend it!"

Yeah, the way rich folks think is just on another level.

The twelve gift boxes were packed with high-end stuff: luxury watches, cars, various jewels, and even a loose diamond.

"This is a pink diamond I bought with my first earnings ten years ago. It was freshly mined and uncut. I heard you design jewelry. Why not design your own wedding ring?" Alexander suggested.

Allison looked at Alexander helplessly. "Mr. Carter, you seem very eager to marry me!" "No kidding! Allison, I wish you were twenty years old right now!" Alexander said. Allison smiled, wrapping one arm around Alexander's neck and giving him a kiss. But Alexander wasn't satisfied with just that and kissed her deeply.

They had planned Christmas activities, but everything got canceled. Hunter ended up taking Mia to a revolving restaurant at Skycrest's tallest building for a candlelit dinner and fireworks.

"Hunter, it's so beautiful. I love it!" Mia said.

Hunter, seeing Mia's happiness, put his arm around her shoulder. "As long as you like it, Mia, I'll spend every Christmas with you from now on."

Mia nodded, excitedly spending Christmas in a youthful way with Hunter.

The Carter family atmosphere wasn't as lively. Although there was a Christmas tree, the festive spirit was missing.

Since his last incident, Victor had taken a break from work and focused on taking care of Liliana at home.

Victor personally attended to all of Liliana's needs, but she didn't seem to appreciate it much.

"Liliana, it's Christmas. I made steak. Do you want some?" Victor was cautious around Liliana, barely daring to breathe.

"Too gamey, makes me nauseous. I want roast chicken!" Liliana said.

"Okay, I'll make it right away!" Victor replied.

Seeing Victor's joy, Liliana felt a bit helpless. She didn't even know why she was upset. Victor was so good to her, but she just felt uneasy.

Liliana got out of bed, rubbing her back. Pregnancy had been tough, but fortunately, the baby was doing well and developing nicely.

She walked around the room and stood by the window, watching the snowflakes fall outside. The sight lifted her spirits.

She was so engrossed that she didn't notice Victor coming up behind her to drape a sweater over her shoulders. "It's too cold by the window. Wear more."

Feeling tired, Liliana leaned against Victor. He was pleasantly surprised by her gesture. "Victor, Allison said someone tampered with my fallopian tubes. Is that true?" Liliana asked.

Victor froze, his body tensing up. He then hugged Liliana tightly. "I'm sorry, honey. It's all my fault. You can punish me however you want, just don't hurt yourself."

Liliana sighed. "Twenty years... I'm suddenly so tired."

"If you're tired, lean on me. If you don't want to walk, I'll carry you. Liliana, I know my persistence has been foolish at times, and you've always been the one to suffer. I'm not the same confident man I used to be. For the rest of my life, it's just you. I'll only care about you," Victor responded.
