The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 209 Broke an Arm

James couldn't believe it. After all these years of radio silence, a distant branch of the family had the nerve to come sniffing around for the family assets. It was downright shameless.

Meanwhile, Vernon Bishop, supposedly a member of the Bishop family, had already made his way to the Ellis family's restaurant.

Xavier was busy in the kitchen when someone told him he had a visitor. Stepping out, he saw a middle-aged guy in a suit and sunglasses sitting at a table, flanked by two bodyguards. Xavier had a pretty good idea who this was.

"Can I help you, sir?" Xavier asked, keeping it polite.

Vernon looked at Xavier with a smug grin. "Do you think I'd come to this dump for no reason? I heard you're managing the Bishop family's assets. I'm Vernon Bishop, a descendant of the Bishop family. The late Valencia was my great-aunt. I'm here to take over the family assets."

Xavier raised an eyebrow at Vernon's arrogance but stayed calm. "So, which branch are you from?"

Vernon sneered at Xavier like he was some lowly servant. "Dexter Bishop was my great- grandfather."

Xavier nodded. The Bishop family did have a branch from Dexter, but they were distant relatives, at least five generations removed.noveldrama

"If I remember right, you're the fourth son of Gordon Bishop, right?" Xavier asked. Vernon was a bit taken aback that Xavier knew his lineage and gave him a bit more respect. "Seems the Bishop family trained you well. You actually remember me."

Xavier smiled faintly, his hands clasped in front of him, looking respectful but actually holding his ground.

Vernon took off his sunglasses, revealing a face that had some resemblance to Valencia, though Vernon's features were naturally fierce, unlike Valencia's kind and gentle demeanor.

"Mr. Bishop, Mrs. Bishop kept detailed family records. She updated the family tree three times, including your branch. You have seven brothers, and you're the fourth," Xavier said.

Vernon nodded. Xavier's words were spot on, so he decided to cut to the chase. "Since you know the history, let's not waste time. Valencia's been gone for years, and the Bishop family assets have been unmanaged. I plan to adopt a child to continue the family line and take over the assets. Hand over everything you're managing. The Ellis family can stay and run things under our supervision."

Xavier's expression darkened. "I'm afraid that's not gonna happen."

Vernon scoffed. "You're just a caretaker. How dare you talk back to me? I'm here to claim the Bishop family assets. Hand over Serenity Manor and everything else, or you'll regret it."

Xavier sneered and shot Vernon a disdainful look. "Mr. Bishop, it seems you didn't hear me. Mrs. Bishop updated the family tree three times. The first was for Kieran's birth, adding him to the Bishop family tree. The second was for your branch, even though you were already distant relatives. The third time, she added two names: Jasper, her grandson, and Allison, her designated heir. So, you are not qualified to inherit the Bishop family's assets!"

Vernon's face twisted with disdain at the mention of Allison. "A girl inheriting the family estate? No wonder the Bishop family fell apart. It should be me who inherits."

Xavier's patience was wearing thin. "This isn't up for debate, Mr. Bishop. You have no right to the Bishop family assets. Please leave."

In Xavier's eyes, Vernon was simply being unreasonable, but in Vernon's eyes, Xavier was not taking him seriously.

Furious, Vernon snapped his fingers. "Wreck the place!"

His bodyguards moved to obey.

Hearing the commotion, Hunter rushed out and started brawling with them. Xavier quickly called Allison.

By the time Allison arrived, the restaurant was in shambles, with tables and chairs broken. She spotted Vernon sitting arrogantly with his sunglasses back on.

"Sabrina, call the police. Report the vandalism and threats," Allison ordered.

Vernon slammed the table. "How dare you call the police? Do you know who I am? I'm the rightful heir of the Bishop family!"

Allison laughed coldly. "I know exactly who you are. The Bishop family has a proud history of integrity and respect. If you were truly a Bishop, you should know the rules of the family. But here you are, smashing someone else's shop. How dare you call yourself a Bishop?"

Vernon was taken aback by Allison's boldness. He removed his sunglasses, studying her. "Are you even of age? Such a sharp tongue for a child. Didn't your parents teach you to respect your elders?"

Allison, aware of Vernon's background from Xavier, was unfazed. "According to the family tree, we're of the same generation. So, what kind of elder are you?"

Vernon's eyes flashed with anger. "You think you're my equal, Allison? Do you have a death wish?"

His bodyguards moved to grab Allison, but she swiftly disarmed one, breaking his arm. The guard fell to the ground, writhing in pain.

Vernon was shocked. "You've got some nerve, Allison. You're so young and already so violent. But this won't scare me. The Bishop family assets are mine by right. You, an outsider, have no claim. The Bishop legacy belongs to the Bishops!"
