The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 208 The Bishop Family Are Back to Claim the Assets

Allison wasn't all that shocked by the news, but she was definitely curious about who was behind it this time.

"I'll have Xavier set up a spot for you to crash and use my scanner to check out Serenity Manor. Might dig up something cool!" Cleo suggested.

Allison had already told the Carter family over dinner about her plans to move to Serenity Manor. She figured it was time to leave Carter Manor for a bit. Even though they were engaged, it didn't feel right for an unmarried couple to live together.

Plus, her upcoming tasks were kinda risky, and she didn't want to drag the Carters into her personal stuff.

That night, Allison started packing her things.

Alexander, fresh out of the shower, noticed her packing and stopped. "How long are you gonna be gone?"

"About a month. I took a break from school. I was planning to take some exams and pick a university, but things changed. I might need to join the Academy of Sciences sooner than I thought," Allison replied.

Alexander had always respected Allison's choices about her education. After today's engagement party, her identity was out in the open, making it tough for her to stay in high school.

"No matter where you go, I'm behind you. But I have one condition: you can't stay at the school dorms. You gotta come home every night," Alexander said firmly.

He got the importance of work and responsibilities, but he couldn't stand the idea of being apart for too long. He wanted to see her every night.

"The school has dorms, but I don't wanna stay there. Dwight said he could get me faculty housing if I work as his assistant. That way, I'll have a place to stay," Allison explained.

Alexander sighed. It wasn't like they didn't have housing options, but seeing Allison's excitement, he couldn't say no.

"Alright, you win. I'll drive you to Serenity Manor in the morning. By the way, there's something serious I need to tell you," Alexander said.

Allison wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. "What's so serious?"

"A guy claiming to be from the Bishop family called me. He specifically asked to meet you to talk about the Bishop family's assets," Alexander revealed.

Allison frowned. The Bishop family? She hadn't heard of any relatives from the Bishop family for as long as she could remember. Valencia always said the family was long gone. How could a Bishop suddenly show up?

She shared her worries with Alexander, who immediately called James to look into it. "Don't worry. James is on it. We'll have answers soon," Alexander reassured her. After packing, Allison headed to the guest room, but Alexander stopped her.

"Can't we sleep together?" he asked, clearly not happy about being apart.

"We're just engaged, Alexander. It's not proper," Allison insisted, pushing him away with a smile and heading to the guest room, leaving Alexander to sulk.

The next morning, Mia was pretty upset when she found out Allison would be gone for a month.

"Mia, come on, you know I still love you! What are you gonna do without me at school?" she cried.

Allison found it pretty funny. Mia, who used to hate studying, had become way more diligent. The practice tests Allison left for her showed some serious improvement.

"I'm just taking a month off. I've mapped out your studies for the next month. Stick to the schedule, and you'll be fine. I've left test materials with your teacher. I know you'll crush it," Allison assured her.

Mia finally calmed down and insisted on sleeping with Allison. They chatted late into the night. The next morning, Mia was still out cold when Allison left, much to Liliana's annoyance.

"That girl sleeps like a rock!" Liliana grumbled.

Allison laughed. "Mia's doing great, Liliana."

Before breakfast, Allison handed Liliana some prescriptions. "These are for Aiden. Rotate them weekly and make sure he takes his meds. The other two are for you. The massage therapy is working well. These prescriptions are for two weeks. After you finish them, get a check-up at the hospital."

Liliana hugged Allison tightly. "We'll miss you, Allison. You're our lucky charm. Remember to call us every day, or Aiden will worry."

Allison nodded, promising to keep in touch.

After breakfast, Alexander drove Allison to Serenity Manor before heading to work. Xavier was waiting at the gate with his son, Timothy Ellis.noveldrama

"This is my eldest son, Timothy. If you need anything, just go to him directly. I've put him in charge of everything in the courtyard. Ms. Bennett, you can count on him," Xavier introduced.

Allison smiled at Timothy. "Thanks, Timothy."

Timothy grinned. "It's my pleasure, Ms. Bennett. Your friends are already settled in. Right this way, please."

As Xavier and Timothy took her luggage inside, Allison turned to Alexander. "Work hard and no slacking off!"

She stuck her tongue out playfully and ran inside, leaving Alexander shaking his head with a smile.

At the office, James approached Alexander with a report. "Mr. Carter, I've dug up some info on the guy you asked about. He's got quite a background."

James handed over the documents.

Alexander's brow furrowed as he read through them. "Someone from Eldoria? The Bishop family had relatives there?"

"Yeah. They're a branch of the Bishop family. About sixty or seventy years ago, they moved to Eldoria for business and struck gold-literally. They got super rich but have been on a decline recently," James replied.

Alexander remembered Apex Global Enterprises, a company from Eldoria that had once sought a partnership with the Carter Group. They had declined due to the company's shady reputation.

"Apex Global Enterprises has been in the energy business, mainly mining. But with the recent drop in energy prices and their mines nearly depleted, their business has taken a hit," James revealed.

"So they're back to claim the Bishop family's assets? Ridiculous!" Alexander scoffed.
