Chapter 207 The Ember Family's Schemes
Alexander looked down, surprised by the pile of gifts from the elders. Kismet had already given Allison a present for the engagement, and Elsa had handed over her bracelet, which was super valuable.
"Since it's from the elders, you should keep it," he said softly.
Honestly, these rich families cared more about skills and connections than money. Alexander figured they were impressed by Allison's medical skills, being Joe's student- a privilege money couldn't buy.
By the end of the engagement party, Allison was completely wiped out. The day's drama with Blair had drained her both physically and emotionally. Feeling heartbroken, Alexander handed over the hotel stuff to Jessa and took Allison home.
When Jessa and the others got back, their first concern was Allison.
"How is she? She's been through so much these past few days," Jessa asked Alexander, worried.
Alexander had only managed to get two hours of sleep next to Allison before his phone woke him up. Not wanting to disturb her, he went downstairs and bumped into Jessa.
"She's still sleeping. She should be fine after some rest. Don't worry," he reassured her. Despite his words, Alexander grabbed a thermometer and headed back upstairs.
Jessa, seeing this, got more anxious. "You don't know how to take care of her properly. Go get Felicity to make some chicken soup. I'll check on Allison."
Later, Jessa found Allison with a fever of 100.4°F and quickly got some medicine ready. She gently woke Allison to give her the medicine, her face full of concern.
"Jessa..." Allison murmured, still half-asleep.
"Drink some water, sweetheart. You'll feel better soon," Jessa said gently.
Allison nodded and obediently drank the water.
Jessa's heart ached for her; despite being so young, Allison had already been through so much. How could Blair be so heartless?
Once Allison started sweating, Jessa and Felicity helped her change into fresh clothes. Allison then did some acupuncture on herself, and her fever began to go down, leaving Jessa amazed.
"You're incredible. Felicity made some chicken soup. Do you want to come down to eat or should I bring it up?" Jessa asked.
Allison, not wanting to trouble her further, put on a warm outfit and went downstairs. The whole family was waiting for her.
"Allison, come sit next to me!" Aiden called, patting the seat beside him.
"You wouldn't believe how proud I was in front of my friends today. They all know I've got a wonderful daughter-in-law. I'm celebrating with a drink tonight. Jessa, pour me some wine!" Aiden ordered.
Before Jessa could respond, Allison cut in. "Maybe you shouldn't drink, or I might have to perform a bloodletting on you later."
Aiden, hearing this, quickly dropped the idea. Bloodletting sounded too scary. He wasn't about to risk it.
The family laughed, and Liliana remarked, "It seems only Allison can keep Dad in line!"
Just then, Victor returned from an international conference, having missed the engagement party. He felt a bit guilty.
"Allison, Alexander, I brought a gift for you from Skyview City. I hope you like it," Victor said, handing Allison a box.

Allison opened the box and found a pair of Vacheron Constantin watches. Her eyes widened in surprise. "Victor, these must have cost a fortune!"
Victor waved it off. "Liliana insisted on getting you a matching set. I even had your initials engraved. We hope you get married soon and stay happy forever."
The Carter family basked in their happiness, while the Ember family was steeped in misery.
"Blair, what's the meaning of this? Where's my daughter?" Helena demanded.
They had planned to confront Allison and force her to agree to let Helena go abroad
to find Cade. But Blair returned alone, much to Helena's fury.
"Yasmin is pregnant. She's at the Walker Manor," Blair replied.
The news of Yasmin's pregnancy stunned the Ember family. Derek Ember, the family patriarch, made a decision.
"Yasmin did the right thing. Now that she's pregnant, her marriage into the Walker family is assured. And with Allison engaged to Alexander, this is good for both families. Pack up. We're going to the Walker Manor to demand an explanation," Derek said. Blair couldn't believe what she was hearing. She wanted to protest but found herself speechless. The Ember family had always been shameless. They had once condoned Helena's affair with Preston, which made it clear that they never truly cared for Blair. "Go if you want. I won't be a part of this disgrace," Blair said.
Helena dismissed her words. "Of course, you're not going. Yasmin is my daughter, not yours."
Helena's parents took her to the Walker Manor, causing a scene there.

Meanwhile, Blair packed her things and headed to the airport. Before leaving, she turned to take one last look at Skycrest, where she had lived for decades, and left without any regret.
That evening, Alexander informed Allison of Blair's departure.
"It's for the best. The Ember family is probably busy securing Yasmin's position. With Preston gone and Jasper abroad, Helena is all they have left," Allison said.
"Their problems are not ours. Focus on your work. Don't worry about them," Alexander reassured her.
Allison nodded and called Xavier before bed. "Xavier, I'm moving to Serenity Manor tomorrow. Please prepare the room as planned."
Xavier was thrilled. "Don't worry, everything's ready. Kismet mentioned that Mrs. Wells will be staying too. I've prepared her room as well. As for the courtyard you requested, the security system is up and running. It's quiet there and won't attract attention." "Xavier, we still need to be cautious. Keep an eye out for any strangers around Serenity Manor recently. Also, halt the renovations and tell them we're waiting on materials. Delay it for a month," Allison instructed.
After hanging up, Xavier instructed his son to make the necessary arrangements.
Just then, the security system triggered an alarm. Allison received a notification on her phone and saw a cat on the surveillance footage.
Allison immediately contacted Cleo. "Someone is testing our security system. Go check it out and see who's watching us!"
Cleo and Sabrina drove to the location. Sabrina ran a system check and discovered something alarming.
"Someone's attacking our firewall. The IP addresses are from abroad. It looks like you've been targeted," Cleo reported.noveldrama
