Chapter 378 I am Just Being Down to Earth
Back-burner?
Ethan snorted lightly after hearing that word.
Owen realized instantly that he had misunderstood the situation after hearing Ethan's reaction from the
other end. Then, he asked, "Ethan, tell me the truth. Who exactly is that dance teacher?"
Ethan said emotionlessly, "A friend."
Friend?
What kind of friend?
That identity could be quite vague.
Owen was unsure of Ethan's feelings towards Violet within that short time. After thinking for a while, he
said, "Ethan, let me explain it to you in person. It's a long story."
Ethan said, "Meet me at Marriott."
After Ethan finished speaking, he hung up the call. He turned the steering wheel and pulled the car
over on the shoulder.
When the car stopped, Violet, who was sitting in the passenger seat, turned to look at Ethan.
Ethan wound down his window slightly and took out the cigarette case from his pocket. He held a
cigarette diagonally in his mouth, and lit it with his hand covered to block off the wind, "I shouldn't have
asked about your personal life but now it seems like I have to."
After Ethan finished speaking, he paused and continued, "The person who called me just now is called
Owen. His family has some power in Cocanel. What have you done to offend him?
Violet was wearing a cool-toned, thin, down jacket on that day, which brought out her fair complexion.
Violet took a shallow breath and answered, "I didn't do anything that offend him. It was my ex-boyfriend
who owed him money."
The cigarette at the corner of Ethan's mouth trembled slightly, "Ex-boyfriend?"
Violet looked at Ethan and said flatly, "We broke up."
Ethan had never been interested in other people's privacy. He didn't want to know why did they break
up. So, he asked the key point directly, "Why did he ask you to pay back the money that he owed?"
Violet answered, "He lied to those people by saying that we didn't break up, and told them that I would
pay them back on his behalf."
She spoke in a very calm manner as if she was talking about other people's stories.
Ethan took a thorough look at her, removed the cigarette from the corner of his mouth, and popped it
out of the car window. Then, he drove the car back onto the main road.
As the car moved slowly, Violet started to say, "Don't worry. I will explain to that person and tell him this
has nothing to do with you."
Ethan raised his eyebrows and asked, "To who?"
Violet replied, "That person with the name Owen?"
Ethan smiled but didn't respond to her.
Half an hour later, they arrived at Marriot.
As soon as Ethan got off the car, Owen, who was standing on the steps, trotted to welcome him,
"Ethan, here you are."
After Owen finished speaking, he handed Ethan a cigarette.
Ethan pushed it back to him and said, "Just had one."
Owen took it back sadly and suddenly he was attracted by Violet, who was standing next to Ethan. He
asked, "Ethan, is this...Ms. Rowan?"
Owen was stuffing the cigarette in his hand into the cigarette case while he was talking. He stretched
out another hand to Violet and said, "Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Owen."
Violet was stunned for a while when he was introducing himself. Then, she shook his hand and said,
"Hello, I'm Violet."
Violet was gentle and obedient. She was very much unlike those arrogant women, who were the
daughters of the wealthy family that they met usually. Owen couldn't help but stare at her for quite
some time.
After letting go of her hand, Owen grinned and said, "Crows do not pick crow's eye, Ms. Rowan. If I
knew that Ethan and you are friends, I wouldn't be giving you any hard time. I don't want the 75,000
dollars anymore. Keep it as my apology to you."
Violet replied, "I think you misunderstood. It isn't me who borrows that money."
Owen said, "I know you didn't borrow the money, but your boyfriend did!"
Violet continued, "We broke up a long time ago."
Owen was stunned for a while after hearing that. He spoke a few swear words, and said with a smile,
"That guy looks like a decent man and he was well-educated. Who would expect him to be such a
scumbag?"
Violet smiled but didn't say a word. It wasn't because she was too kind and she didn't want to speak ill
of him, she just simply found him disgusting even by only thinking of him.
After the conflict was resolved, Owen and Violet apologized to each other again.
Violet wasn't an unreasonable person. She knew exactly who the culprit was. She said gently, "It's okay
since everything is clear now."
Owen said, "Ethan, Ms. Rowan, have you eaten yet? Let me buy you a meal as my apology."
After speaking, Owen was worried that they would refuse him. Therefore, he added, "Please don't say
no. Otherwise, my conscience will not be peaceful."
Ethan looked indifferent and asked, "Did you see Colin?"
Owen scratched his head and asked, "Is Colin here too?"
Ethan replied, "He should be here before me."
Owen said, "I didn't see him. He probably went in already. I just arrived not long ago."
After a while, the three of them walked into Marriott.
The lobby manager didn't meet Violet before, but he knew Ethan and Owen. He approached them to
say hello, "Mr. Bond and Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Farrell has been waiting in the private room for a long time."
Ethan replied with a cold "Um". Owen stretched his arms around the lobby manager's neck and
whispered, "Charge tonight's bill onto my account, and let no one else pay the bill. Do you hear me?"
The lobby manager got him and said, "Please, don't worry."
Owen said further, "Get me the best and most expensive stuff."
The lobby manager replied, "Only the best will be served since you all are here, sir." Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Owen was satisfied with the lobby manager's answer. He said, "Well done!"
When Owen was whispering to the lobby manager, Ethan had already strode to the private room with
Violet.
When they arrived at the entrance of the private room, Ethan stretched out his hand to open the door.
Abbot's mocking was being heard in the room, "You shouldn't be here if you are so capable!"
Colin smiled and said leisurely, "I'm just being down to earth."
