Chapter 299 Living at the Others' Place
Colin Farrell always made Faye feel warm readily.
Faye looked up at Colin Farrell. At the end of the day, she failed to hold back and bit his Adam's apple
gently on tiptoe.
Faye did not bite him hard, but Colin Farrell deliberately hissed.
When Faye stood firm, Colin Farrell swallowed and said, "Why do you like to bite my Adam's apple so
much?"
Faye praised him straightforwardly, "Very sexy."
Colin Farrell uttered, "I have something sexier."
Faye was rendered speechless.
When Colin Farrell and Faye arrived at Jadon's place, Carlotta was busy cooking in the kitchen.
Jadon sat on the sofa and talked with them. He glanced in the direction of the kitchen from time to time,
looking weird.
Colin Farrell watched Jadon's action the entire time. He drank coffee while saying, "Uncle Jadon, I
hope Aunt Carlotta didn't trouble you too much."
Jadon uttered, "No, she didn't. I should be the one who troubles her a lot instead."
Jadon was worried that he was not clear enough, so he added, "Since Carlotta recovered, she has
taken on all the housework at home, which has helped me a lot. She also takes care of my daily life
now."
Colin Farrell said, "That's good."
Jadon chatted with Colin Farrell, and Faye did not know what to talk to them.
After a while, Faye said, "I'm going to Aunt Carlotta."
With that, Faye smiled at Jadon and went to the kitchen.
In fact, Carlotta knew since Faye and Colin Farrell entered the house, but she didn't go out because
she felt embarrassed.
Now seeing Faye coming over, Carlotta raised her hands to fix her own hair. She embarrassedly said,
"The cooking smell is heavy here. Just go and sit in the living room."
Faye uttered, "Aunt Carlotta, Colin and I are going to take you home."
Carlotta's eyes reddened slightly, and she said, "Mmm, I know. Mr. Hudson has told me about it. Once
I'm done cooking here, I'll go back with you."
Looking at how cautious Carlotta was since she was living at the others' place, Faye suddenly felt a
knot in her stomach.
Carlotta actually looked a lot like Daisy Kemp, not only in appearance but also in the ways of speaking
and doing things.
Sometimes looking at Carlotta, Faye would be reminded of how Daisy Kemp looked like before
Shepard Nash cheated on her.
Back then, Daisy Kemp could be said to be a good wife and mother.
She was gentle and good at cooking.
While Faye was lost in thought, Carlotta had put all the dishes into the fresh-keeping boxes. She
unsealed them so that they could cool down.
After placing the boxes in order, Carlotta thoughtfully put on sticky notes on each lunch box.
When everything was done, Carlotta straightened up, wiped her hands against the apron, and looked
awkwardly at Faye, stating, "I... I'll talk to Mr. Hudson, and then we'll go back... back home."
Faye uttered, "Okay."
Carlotta walked to the living room from the kitchen.
When she brushed past her, Faye found that Carlotta seemed to gain some weight.
In the living room, Jadon was still chatting with Colin Farrell.
Seeing Carlotta coming, Jadon looked up and said, "Are you leaving now?"
Carlotta interlocked her hands uneasily in front of her chest and uttered, "Mr. Hudson, thank you for
taking me in."
Jadon stood up and smiled gently. "I should thank you for taking care of me," said he.
With that, he took a jewelry box out of his pocket and handed it to Carlotta, saying, "It's a little gift for
you."
Carlotta waved her hands nonstop and uttered, "No, I can't take it."
Being refused, Jadon reached out to grab her hand, and forcefully stuffed it into her hand, stating, "It's
just a little gift. If you don't accept it, I will feel sorry."
Carlotta was embarrassed and said, "Thank you, Mr. Hudson."
After getting out of Jadon's place, the three headed home.
Carlotta was reticent all the way.
Occasionally, Colin Farrell asked her something, and Carlotta answered him cautiously.
Faye looked at Carlotta in the rearview mirror and slightly compressed her lips.
Colin Farrell caught sight of Faye's look out of the corner of his eye. He then reached out to hold her
hand as comfort.
When they got back to Fennth Community, it was already ten o'clock in the evening.
The three went into the house one after another. Faye bent down to get Carlotta's slippers and said,
"Aunt Carlotta, Colin and I have been too busy these days. Sorry to have left you in the cold."
Carlotta shook her head nervously and uttered, "Not at all. I know you two are very busy."
Faye didn't say anything. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
They were all adults and were well aware of what was between them.
Faye was used to acting vigorously in her work and was not good at dealing with such delicate feelings,
which led to an awkward atmosphere.
Just as Faye was about to say something, Colin Farrell reached out and kneaded the back of her neck,
saying, "It's been a long day. You can just go upstairs and have a rest."
Faye turned to look at Colin Farrell.
He then gave her a reassuring look, signaling that he would take care of the rest.
Faye caught on to it right away. Then, she said good night to Carlotta before making her way to the
bedroom.
Shortly after Faye left, Colin Farrell fished out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. He took a cigarette
out and bit it in his mouth before lighting it. He took a puff of the cigarette and said without haste, "Aunt
Carlotta."
Carlotta froze with fear when she heard Colin Farrell calling her. "Co... Colin," uttered she.
Colin Farrell suddenly smiled and continued, "Aunt Carlotta, relax. I apologize for my bad attitude
towards you last time."
Carlotta was subdued.
Colin Farrell took the cigarette from the corner of his mouth, sandwiched it between his fingers, and
said in a low voice, "Aunt Carlotta, you just wanted to avenge Faye's mother, right? It's not a big deal.
Why destroy the relationship between you and Faye because of the mere trifle?"
Carlotta's face blushed. She compressed her lips and uttered, "I've been thinking a lot when I was
living at Mr. Hudson's place these days. I came to realize that I was too selfish in the past. As you said,
the dead can't come back to life. We should attach more importance to those who are still alive."
Whether Carlotta really reflected on herself or not, Colin Farrell couldn't care less about it.
The only thing he needed to make sure was that going forward, Carlotta wouldn't say anything that
would upset Faye during the time they lived together.
After a brief chat with Carlotta, Colin Farrell told Carlotta to rest well before striding away.
No sooner did Farrell step on the stairs than his mobile phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
Colin Farrell took out his mobile phone, only to see an unknown number. He hesitated for a moment
and then picked it up, saying, "Hello."
The person on the other end of the phone did not speak immediately. After a few seconds, a strange
yet familiar voice sounded, "Colin."
