Chapter 298 The One I Held Dear

Who would Old Mr. Farrell help?

Faye pondered for a few seconds before answering, "It's hard to tell."

Theoretically, Old Mr. Farrell would certainly help Blaine.

After all, Blaine was the only son of Old Mr. Farrell.

Nonetheless, based on what Faye had seen and heard in the Farrells over the years, she was really

uncertain about it since Old Mr. Farrell was extremely partial to Tiffany.

For example, Blaine and Tiffany had decided to live separately. Normally, it must be Tiffany who was

supposed to move out of the old mansion of the Farrells.

However, Old Mr. Farrell would rather ask Blaine to move out so as to have Tiffany stay.

It was self-explanatory how much Old Mr. Farrell played favorites with Tiffany.

Faye was lost in thought after saying that. Colin chuckled and said, "Don't waste your energy on that.

Let's see wait and see which way the wind blows."

Faye said, "Mm-hmm."

On the way back, Faye and Colin talked about new energy.

"Aren't you worried it will be found out by Old Mr. Farrell?"

Colin leaned against the back of the seat with a smile and uttered, "He is not an idiot. On the day we

had a head-on conflict, he should have seen it coming."

Faye responded, "That's right."

The New Year drew near, and they had a peaceful life for the following days.

Hugh began to work in the new energy company as Colin expected.

Colin gave Hugh a position as general manager. It was a much higher position than his previous one,

and his salary tripled.

When several other senior executives, who still worked at the headquarters of Farrell Media, got to

know that news, they all asked people to probe into it from Colin in stealth.

Colin did not give them a direct answer. What he said was equivocal but meaningful.

The holiday began on December 23rd to January 17th in Farrell Media.

Although they were on holiday, there were still people on duty in every department. After all, the group

had many artists. Whenever holidays came, the artists would have to attend a lot of activities and

events.

Each department had to work with the artists at all times.

On the 22nd, Faye drove home after getting off work. When she got home, she saw that Cindy was

talking to someone furtively.

"Yeah, tomorrow will be the 23rd. It's indeed inappropriate.

"Alas, I don't have a say..."

Upon catching sight of Faye, Cindy hurriedly moved the phone away from her ear and hung it up

without even finishing her words.

Watching Faye walk in with her slippers, Cindy looked embarrassed and said, "Ma... Madam."

Faye glanced at Cindy, went to the bathroom, and asked faintly, "is it Aunt Carlotta?"

Cindy's face changed, and she answered, "Yes."

Faye uttered, "Does she want to come back for the New Year?"

Cindy stumbled, "That... that's indeed what she wants."

Faye washed her hands with the bathroom door open, answering, "Mm-hmm."

In fact, even if Carlotta didn't bring it up, Faye also had the plan to take her home.

There was no reason for her to spend the holiday at the Carters' place.

Faye came out of the bathroom after washing her hands, and Colin happened to come back.

It was snowing lightly outside, so there was a thin layer of snowflakes on his coat.

The two looked at each other. Colin cracked a smile and said, "Hey, baby."

Faye stepped forward and uttered, "You're back so early?"

"Mm-hmm," Colin smiled and said, "I'm going to take a vacation this year, too."

With that, Colin lowered his head, leaned to Faye's ear, and said in a low voice, "Baby, my birthday is

coming in a week."

Faye, of course, understood what Colin was implying. She turned to look at him and narrowed her

eyes, uttering, "Okay, I'll order you a big cake then."

"Hmm?" Colin met Faye's eyes and arched his eyebrows.

Faye was unfazed and continued, "Don't worry. I'll also prepare a gift for you."

Colin smiled mischievously, "What will it be?"

Faye answered, "Cufflinks."

Colin was wordless.

Faye looked calm as usual, but Colin saw a touch of happiness in her eyes.

Colin chuckled and said playfully, "Cufflinks are good, too."

Faye couldn't help laughing and uttered, "They're customized and cost an arm and a leg."

With that, Faye turned and walked in the direction of the restaurant. She dissolved into laughter out of

Colin's vision.

Colin was at her heels. He quickened his pace to catch up with her and wrapped his arm around her

waist, saying flirtatiously, "Where do you wanna go during the holiday?"

Faye answered, "It's the 23rd tomorrow. Shall we take Aunt Carlotta home?"

Speaking of Carlotta, Colin was silent for a few seconds before saying smilingly, "Whatever you want."

Faye uttered, "Call Uncle Jadon later and tell him that we'll pick her up in the evening."

Colin agreed without hesitation, "Will do."

After dinner, Colin left the dining room and called Jadon.

Jadon picked up the phone and said, "Hello, Colin." He sounded somewhat tired.

Colin asked, "Uncle Jadon, am I disturbing you?"

Jadon became more awake and uttered, "Never mind. I worked the night shift last night and helped a

colleague with his work for the whole morning today. I just fell asleep when I came back in the

afternoon, but it doesn't matter."

Colin said, "Uncle Jadon, Faye wants to take Aunt Carlotta home for the New Year."

Jadon was stupefied and then said, "Sure, sure."

With that, Jadon smiled and asked, "Are you going to pick her up tonight or tomorrow?"

Colin said calmly, "Tonight. We have a holiday tomorrow. If we pick her up tomorrow morning, Faye will

have to get up early."

Hearing what Colin said, Jadon smiled helplessly and uttered, "Colin, you are really the most thoughtful

man I have ever seen."

Colin smiled without replying to him.

Hanging up the phone, Colin headed back to the dining room and said, "Uncle Jadon said we could

pick her up now."

Faye finished up the food on her plate in haste. When she reached out to take a napkin to wipe her

mouth, Colin picked up the creamy chicken soup in front of her and handed it to her. "Have some soup

before leaving. No hurries," said he.

Faye uttered, "I've had enough." Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Colin said, "I know whether you've had enough or not."

Faye was wordless.

Faye didn't eat her fill indeed. It was kind of late at the moment, so she was worried that they would

disturb Jadon if they got there too late.

Faye looked up at Colin. The latter handed the soup to her, asking, "Want me to feed you?"

Faye reached out to take it and dropped her eyes.

Watching Faye finish the soup, Colin handed her a napkin and smiled mischievously, saying,

"Remember it, no matter when, do not short-change yourself."

Faye stood up and threw the used napkin into the trash can, stating, "Colin, I find that you seem to be a

little spoiled and arrogant now."

Colin followed Faye and smiled, asking, "Am I?"

Faye went to the entrance to change her shoes and answered, "Yeah, very obvious."

Colin held Faye's down jacket in his hand while waiting for her. After Faye changed her shoes, he

shook the down jacket and uttered, "Hands."

Faye turned to look at him.

Colin arched his eyebrows and said, "We're in a hurry, aren't we?"

Faye was stunned for a few seconds before stretching out her hand.

Colin helped Faye put on the down jacket from behind and came up to her to zip the jacket. "This time

after Aunt Carlotta comes back, don't wrong yourself like you did last time. Tell her directly if what she

says upsets you," stated he.

Faye nodded.

Colin lowered his head, kissed Faye on the forehead, and uttered in a mellow voice, "No one, including

me, can bully the one I hold dear."
