Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 1009: Brandon, Where Do You Plan to Hold the Wedding with Aunt Angela?

When he heard the word "honeymoon," Ruud's eyes lit up. He had been dreaming of spending some alone time with his wife for a long time. But as he thought about his daughter's recent pregnancy, he hesitated. Balancing both sides, he still couldn't rest easy. "The honeymoon can wait. Our daughter's health is more important."

Alina rolled her eyes. "Don't you know your own daughter by now? She's as strong as an ox. What are you even worried about?"

Ruud froze. "Then why are you giving her medicine?"

Alina faltered. She had let something slip. Her gaze flickered briefly before she replied, "I just wanted to make sure the young couple takes precautions. You know, the first three months of pregnancy are always unstable..."

"Wife!" Ruud quickly pulled her into his arms, his face full of concern.

Alina sighed, knowing she had no choice but to explain. "Tina was poisoned. The medicine was to neutralize the toxins."

"Poisoned?"

Ruud's expression darkened, and his entire demeanor radiated a chilling aura.

Alina had expected this reaction. She gently patted him on the arm. "Don't worry. The poison was mild and didn't pose much of a threat to her. My main concern was its potential effect on the baby. However..."

Her eyes narrowed coldly as she continued, "The person who poisoned her likely didn't know Tina was pregnant. The toxin doesn't target the body directly but instead focuses on controlling the mind."

Ruud took a deep breath, his fists clenching and unclenching as he looked sadly at Alina, who had carried the burden silently. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Alina glanced up at him, her answer evident. The years he had missed out on being a father left him trying too hard now, when he should have learned to let go.

But their daughter was no longer the child who needed them to handle everything. She had her own career, her own family, and her own aspirations. The missions she undertook were even more dangerous than the ones they had faced in their youth.

Their daughter had grown strong-so strong that she no longer needed their protection, often in ways they couldn't even see.

Alina sighed and gently held his hand. "Ruud, Tina's path will go further than ours ever did. What we need to do is not clear the obstacles for her but help her grow stronger."

Ruud lowered his head, silent for a long moment. Finally, he spoke slowly, "You're right. My daughter-'exceptional' doesn't even begin to describe her."

Seeing that he had come to terms with it, Alina smiled and asked, "So, are we still going on our honeymoon?"noveldrama

Ruud lowered his gaze, his eyes full of warmth. "Of course. It's a promise I owe you." Alina smiled and nodded. "That's more like it."

Meanwhile, Tina and Jared arrived at the Brookes family estate after dinner. Luckily, Uncle had prepared some snacks and pastries for the drive, so Tina wasn't particularly hungry. However, after eating so many sweets, she craved something savory to balance the taste.

As she stepped out of the car, familiar voices called out to her.

"Serena, you're finally here!"

"Serena, we've been waiting for you forever!"

Recognizing Philip and Gavin, Tina glanced behind them. "Where's Master?"

Dexter walked out just then, quickly approaching her. "Serena, your master is waiting inside."

Tina nodded and followed them into the main hall. Before they could reach the backyard, a distinct voice rang out from a distance, growing louder as it drew near.

Those kids out there starving me is bad enough, but I'm an old man, injured, with bandages on my head, and your grandfather is still treating me like this..."

Tina turned toward the voice, her gaze landing on Master Tam and the glaring bandage on his head. She froze for a moment. She remembered her master being injured internally-when had he hurt his head?

"No one eats until Tina gets here!" Ian's firm voice came from the other side. He wasn't about to back down. "If I have to wait for my granddaughter, so can you. What's a little hunger?"

Master Tam was so agitated his blood pressure seemed ready to shoot through the roof. "You-you old fool! I'd love to crack open your skull and see if there's anything inside besides that one stubborn thought!"

"Your granddaughter has Jared with her. You think she'd go hungry? Meanwhile, I've barely eaten anything all day! If I faint right here at the Brookes family's door, I swear everyone will know how poorly you treat your guests!"

Despite being on the verge of collapse from hunger, Master Tam's verbal sparring never faltered.

The disciples behind him stayed silent, unwilling to interfere. After all, criticizing a host while staying in their home was a bit much. But this was their master-no matter how embarrassing, they had no choice but to turn a blind eye.

Seeing Ian nearing his breaking point, Tina quickly stepped in to mediate. "Grandpa, it's my fault for being late."

Ian's attention shifted at once. "Tina, your master told me you went on a dangerous mission yesterday and nearly got hurt. Let me see-are you injured?"

Tina froze briefly, throwing a warning glance at her master. Master Tam guiltily scratched his nose, clearly regretting his earlier slip of the tongue.

Smiling, Tina reassured Ian. "Grandpa, I can't say much about the mission, but rest assured, I'm not hurt-not even a scratch."

Hearing that, Ian relaxed. "Good, good. I know how capable you are, but no matter how skilled, you must take care of yourself. Don't push too hard."

Tina nodded with a soft smile. "I understand."

Ian then raised his voice again. "Are you hungry? I saved some food for you-your favorite dishes."

Master Tam, speechless, could only glare silently.

Tina could only smile helplessly at the two elders and exchanged a glance with Uncle before heading to the dining room.

At the table, the entire family gathered to welcome Tina. With her, Uncle, and the nine brothers from Serenity Ridge, a simple family dinner turned into a lively banquet. The dining room buzzed with the energy of a grand celebration.

Fortunately, only a few people knew about Tina's pregnancy, and she intended to keep it that way for now. After seeing what Uncle went through, she just wanted a peaceful few months. If the news spread, her life would only get more chaotic.

After dinner, Brandon and Aunt Angela approached Tina to check on her. Only after confirming she was fine did they finally relax.

Brandon smiled as he comforted Angela. "I told you, our Tina isn't ordinary. And with Alina around, how could anything happen to her? You just worry too much." Angela didn't respond, simply studying Tina with a sharp, discerning gaze. Tina almost let something slip under her piercing stare but quickly changed the subject. "By the way, Brandon, where do you plan to hold the wedding with Aunt Angela?" Brandon's eyes lit up at the question, and he eagerly leaned closer to Tina. "I've booked two venues-one traditional and the other modern. I can't decide which one Angela likes more!"

Angela's face flushed at the mention of the wedding. Flustered, she stammered, "I... I don't know."

Tina glanced at Angela and offered her opinion. "I think the traditional venue suits Aunt Angela's style best."
