Hans was plagued with confusion, despair, and doubt. His expression twisted and morphed every other second as if he was close to losing his mind.

The sight had Lindon and the others frozen in shock.

They had always thought of Earl Hans as a man of utmost grace and had never quite seen him in such an unhinged state before.

Wilbur had also heard what Hans had said to Atrus when he left but chose to say nothing about it.

Men were willing to stoop to anything to save themselves, and that was just the way humanity worked.

Just then, however, Hans thoroughly exploded into a feral state. He clenched his fists, staring at his father with a crazed expression.

"Yes, you're right! I'm a useless bastard! Have you ever even thought that the Angora clan would have lost its glory long ago had it not been for me, though? I've been the one to uphold our family's glory, to uphold our status as upper-class men. Unlike you, you lunatic! Everyone's terrified of you, and they run from the mere sight of you! I'm the one holding this family together, not you, you lunatic!"

Hans seemed to be shouting with all his might like never before, all his pressure and stress exploding out of his body at once.

Lindon and the others scrambled to lower their heads, looking pointedly at their feet.

This was not about their family at all, and they were better off staying out of trouble.

Wilbur furrowed his brows, saying nothing.

Just then, however, Charlie spoke up. "And how have you been upholding this glory you speak of, huh? Doing everything you can to make as much money as possible? Or your laughable beginner Sanctuary level powers? Or the designer clothes you wear every day?"

"What was I supposed to do, then? Tell me!" Hans roared.

Charlie looked at his son in disdain.

"Glory can only be upheld through power. The Angora clan was an unmovable force in Morburn for all those years because they had the protection of a Super Sanctuary level cultivator. Even Atrus had to acknowledge me. That's why it seemed like things had been smooth sailing for you like you've got Morburn wrapped around your finger. Did you really think that you were the one with the power, with your foolish wit and laughable schemes?"

Hans froze, staring at his father like he was looking at a stranger.

After a long pause, his twisted features finally relaxed into a bitter smile

His father was right.

The glory of the family had only been maintained because of his father's identity as a Super Sanctuary level cultivator.

That was what had made the Angora clan the most powerful clan in Morburn, and no one dared to mess with them.

Even Governor Wynna was nothing but nice to him, let alone anyone else.

Of course, there were other Sanctuary level cultivators, and Hans was far from the strongest of all of them. The reason no one had dared to mess with him was none other than his father's status as a Super Sanctuary cultivator.

Hans had never wanted to admit this but could not run from it any longer under Charlie's questioning.

His father was right. He had been nothing but a joke all these years, a useless bastard.

"Yes, you're right. I'm a useless bastard, and I have no place in the Angora clan. I'm nothing."

Hans lowered his head, dragging his feet outside and disappearing out of sight.

Just then, Wilbur looked at Charlie with a frown. "He's your son, you know. Isn't that a bit much?"

"Sir, I know my son better than anyone else. He needs to snap out of it and stop indulging in frivolous things," Charlie said with a bow.

Wilbur said, "It's pretty impressive that he was able to make it to Sanctuary level."

"He could have been even better. It's because he thinks he's smarter than everyone that he can't get ahead. If he doesn't wake up, the Angora clan's going down the second I die," said Charlie.

Wilbur took a deep breath. "Alright. I'll stay out of your family matters, then. We'll stay here for a few days, then leave after that."noveldrama

"Oh? Why, sir? You could just leave now, no?" Charlie asked, confused.

Wilbur looked out of the window. "I'm waiting on an apology."
