Chapter 1411
To his dismay, Theo had ended up accidentally alerting the target instead. It seemed like the target had a pretty good control of his spirit energy, too.
Now, however, the mission was the least of his thoughts.
The thought of him dying at the hands of his chairman was starting to haunt him like a ghost, making him uneasy all over.
Chairman Morris had always been a ruthless man, even toward his own staff.
Theo had the nickname 'Hangman'. He was Morris' trusted aide and knew too much about everything.
Considering the kind of person Morris was, Theo was going to be taken out eventually.
No one wanted to die, and Theo was no exception.
He lit a cigarette, taking a deep drag. All he could think of was that it was time he thought for himself
Over in Hans' castle.
Hans and Governor Wynna finished their scrumptious lunch.
Just as they had clinked glasses and prepared to drink to their hearts' content, a figure strode in with heavy footsteps.noveldrama
His clothes were in disarray, unruly hair covering most of his face. In fact, he was not even wearing shoes.
The man looked terribly out of place against the luxurious backdrop, as if a beggar had just stumbled into a palace.
The sight of the man, however, had Hans and Wynna scrambling to stand and bow deeply to him.
"You're back, Father," Hans said meekly.
"It's an honor to see you, Marquis Angora." Wynna's demeanor was nothing but humble and respectful as well.
Yet Marquis Angora walked straight through the living room as if he had hardly even heard the two men, heading for the stairs before disappearing from sight.
The two men let out a long breath at the same time.
Wynna sighed. "Something about Marquis Angora just makes me want to kneel at his feet."
"Tell me about it. I might be at the Sanctuary level, but I can't even find myself breathing too loudly in front of my father," Hans said, shaking his head.
Wynna smiled. "Marquis Angora is a Super Sanctuary cultivator, after all. He's the true elite of Morburn, you've got a long way to go compared to him."
"You're right." Hans smiled.
"Well, I won't stay any longer, then," said Wynna. "I have a lot more to deal with. Goodbye."
"Goodbye." Hans walked Wynna all the way to the castle entrance, and both men shared a smile.
...
Just then, Wilbur had already boarded a ferry.
The ferry was named Starlight and had a capacity of about five hundred people.
Despite being small in size, it was luxuriously decorated and considerably famous in Morburn.
Wilbur got himself a glass of champagne and went up to the deck on the third floor, enjoying the view and the sea breeze.
Just as he was lost in the beauty before him, a familiar voice rang through the air.
"We meet again! That's quite some fate we share, isn't it."
Wilbur turned to see Elise grinning at him.
Wilbur nodded slightly, glancing behind her and spotting Connor and Jaden. Jaden seemed to dislike him greatly for some reason, and Wilbur did not care to make a scene out of it that might ruin his mood.
Jaden, however, was furious at Wilbur's attitude.
He barged forward until he was practically nose-to-nose with Wilbur, his tone furious. "How dare you! You should be so honored that Miss Adams is even giving you the time of the day. What's with your attitude?"
What do you think?
