Chapter 1355

Pearl glanced at her watch. "It's half past seven. Darius and I are going to be late. Are you sure you want to keep bothering us here?"

Richard looked sad when he heard this. "Okay, then." He stepped aside to let them pass. Pearl nodded and thanked him. But when she got into the car, it wouldn't start. Darius leaned forward and asked, "Mom, why aren't we going? We're going to be late." Pearl tried to start the car several times without success.

Taking a deep breath and feeling stuck, she ran after Richard, who was still nearby, and asked, "Can you give us a ride?"

Richard's face brightened with a smile. "Sure."

So, Pearl and Darius had to ride with Richard.

Richard drove carefully, mostly silent during the drive.

Pearl stared out the window, feeling mixed emotions. It felt like things between them were moving faster and becoming more intense, which confused her.

Suddenly, Richard played a song that Pearl recognized, even though she had lost her memories.

"You like his music too?" she asked.

"No, but someone very special to me does. That's why I have all her favorite songs on my USB," he said, hinting at Pearl.

Understanding his hint, Pearl chose to stay quiet.

Richard dropped Darius off at kindergarten. The new teacher, not recognizing Darius, cheerfully said, "Hi there! Your dad brought you today?"

Darius perked up and nodded. "Yeah, my dad had time today so he drove me."

The other kids, seeing Richard, were impressed and cheered because he looked so handsome.

A few of Darius's friends came over and asked, "Is that really your dad? He's so cool!"

"Of course. My dad is the best," Darius boasted.

"I've heard your mom is really pretty too. You're so lucky, Darius."

Richard and Pearl, standing a bit away, heard everything. Pearl blushed, seeing how proud her son was but felt awkward and didn't know what to say.

"Darius is inside now. Let's go," Pearl said, changing the subject.

Richard playfully took her hand. Pearl felt his warmth and tried to pull away.

But Richard held on tighter. "Stop. People are watching. It's normal for a couple to hold hands. Do you want them to think we're pretending?"

Pearl, connecting this with the earlier misunderstanding, reluctantly let him lead her.

Once they reached the car, she quickly let go of his hand and got in.

Richard, noticing her shy reaction, smiled.
