"Do you want me to keep you company?" He tried to sound as gentle as possible. Seeing her red and swollen eyes, he felt sorry for her but was also eager.

Esther didn't generally interact with him much, so his words made her frown in confusion. "You're always so busy. I don't think it's a good idea."

Caleb touched his nose awkwardly, realizing he had crossed a line. "No, I just don't want you to be alone."

Esther smiled and shook her head. "It's okay. I'll be fine on my own."

And so, Caleb didn't push further.

Esther took some time off and decided to go somewhere by herself to feel better. She chose to visit a country she had avoided for a long time.
