Chapter 3466 Let's See If You Dare To Mess Around Next Time
When Ray heard that there was a 90% chance of success, he could not help but ask, "Can you walk me through your plan?"
"The prison where Kassy is being held actually has an underground passage. I've already spoken with the prison officials, and we can use that passage to transport her out. It connects to the sewage system, which leads directly to another detention facility.
"The only catch is that this facility's underground pipes don't connect to the outside world, so the remaining 10% risk lies in moving Kassy onto the main road and securing her at the new location.
"This whole operation can be done without anyone noticing, which is why I'm confident it'll work." As Luke explained, he pulled out a detailed map of the sewer system. "Here's the layout I had someone retrieve. This is the starting point, and this is the destination. If we take this route, we can move Kassy without alerting Abel's people."
Abel's men were keeping a constant watch outside the prison now. That was precisely why Ray found this plan so risky.
"This is a solid plan," admitted Ray.
"Since you think so too, I'll go ahead and put things in motion," replied Luke.
Technically speaking, the prison had no reason to follow Luke's orders.
However, he was the one who had sent Kassy there in the first place, and he had also provided them with valuable intelligence.
Hence, they were now on high alert.
The prison staff knew that outsiders were keeping watch, and they were aware that no matter how well they disguised prisoner transfers, Abel's men would immediately have their suspicions if they saw the transport vehicles.
There was no way to counteract this constant surveillance.
The prison authorities actually saw Luke's plan as a viable solution.
By secretly transferring Kassy to another facility, they could ease their own security burden. If trouble did break out, at least they would not have to worry about an escape.
So, after a discreet high-level meeting, the prison officials decided to approve Luke's plan.
"This isn't my turf, so I can't do much to help. But if you need extra manpower, I can provide some," said Ray.
Luke shook his head. "Thanks, but it's better if you keep your men with you."
"Why?" Ray was puzzled.
"Luca confessed everything to Abel in order to be allowed out and treat Vivian. She had no choice. She needed to ensure our future plans could proceed smoothly. Abel won't act rashly at the moment, but that doesn't mean he isn't secretly watching you.noveldrama
"If he realizes your forces are stretched thin, he might get suspicious or do something that puts you at a disadvantage. You need to keep your men close to ensure your own security." Luke did not want Ray to overthink things or suspect that he did not trust him, so he made
sure to explain everything clearly.
Ray nodded. "Alright, I'll keep my men stationed here. But there's one more thing I'm certain Abel will try to plant someone inside the prison. You need to make sure that everyone involved in this operation is trustworthy."
"I've already taken care of that. I discussed it with the prison officials, and they agreed to let me use my own people. They trust that I won't overstep any boundaries, so they approved the plan," assured Luke.
"Good. That's a relief." Ray let out a sigh of relief.
With everything settled, Luke suddenly thought of Gordan who was probably still lying around, half-dead, in the other room. He stood up, ready to leave.
Hearing the sound of the door opening and closing, Vivian peeked out from her room.
She looked at Ray and said in a soft voice, "Ray, I heard everything you guys were talking about just now."
"Yeah, we weren't trying to hide it from you," replied Ray.
The only reason he had asked her to go back to the bedroom earlier was because Luke was there.
Ray did not intend to keep anything from her. He just did not want her to feel uncomfortable. "Is there anything I can do to help?" asked Vivian.
She knew about the Island of Despair. Those people had broken into their estate the last time Luke and Luca went to Russia.
Even though she was not involved in family affairs, this was something she wanted to help with.
Luke and Luca had done so much for her. She felt like she needed to do something in return. "Vivian, just focus on recovering. That's the biggest help you can give." Ray gently ruffled her hair. "That's what you should be doing right now. Leave everything else to me."
"But..." Vivian still wanted to do her part.
Ray said firmly, "No buts. Listen to me, this whole situation is complicated. You don't need to worry about it. Just wait for the toxicology report. Once it's out, Luca will start your treatment, and you'll be healthy again in no time. When Mom and Dad come back from their trip and see how much better you look, they'll be so happy."
Imagining that moment, Vivian suddenly felt a sense of hope.
Her skin had been dark for so many years, but who would not want to have fair, radiant skin? She smiled and said, "Yeah. Ray, we both have to be okay."
"We will be." Ray felt comforted when he saw her smile.
Their family was not big, but none of them had ever looked down on Vivian because of her appearance.
Instead, they had showered her with even more love and protection.
What mattered most was not beauty. It was health and happiness.
"Don't worry, I won't get involved. I'll just support you all from behind the scenes. Now sit
down. Let me get another ice pack for you." As Vivian said that, she stood on her tiptoes and pressed down on Ray's shoulders, urging him to sit.
Ray nodded and sat down.
Vivian carefully applied the ice pack to his face and reminded him, "Don't be so reckless next time, okay?"
"What, are you worried about him?" Ray said, his knuckles cracking slightly as he clenched
them.
Vivian shot him a helpless look. "No, I'm just worried about you. Look at you. You're all bruised up. If someone likes you and sees you always covered in injuries, who would dare get
close to you?"
"That'd be perfect. You know I'm not interested in that kind of thing anyway." Ray snorted.
"That's because of me. Ray, we were kids back then. It was normal for kids to tease me, but things are different now. We've grown up, haven't we?"
Vivian continued, "No one mocks me anymore. Instead, you should think about yourself. You can't just avoid relationships for my sake. You can't refuse to fall in love or get married just because you're worried about my feelings."
"We'll talk about that later. You know how it is in our family. The heirs can't just marry anyone. It's not that I'm staying single because of you. I just don't want the hassle. Don't overthink it. When it comes to love, I believe in letting things happen naturally." Ray kept his eyes closed, enjoying the cool sensation on his face as the pain subsided a little.
Vivian replied helplessly, "You sure are stubborn."
She pressed down on his wound on purpose.
"Ouch!" Ray exaggerated, pretending to be in pain just to amuse her.
"Good! At least you still know what pain feels like. Let's see if you dare to mess around next time," Vivian said with a playful grin.
What do you think?
