Trouble in Paradise

Chapter 0315

The fish tank divider was much thicker than an ordinary fish tank.

Nicholas's palms went numb after smashing the fish tank, but the tank itself remained undamaged. The fish, however, were panic-stricken.

Nevertheless, he seemed determined to break it. He continued smashing the tank until he had smashed a hole in it, causing a strong flow of water to spill out and soak his pants.

I could no longer focus on anything else. Hastily using my clothes to scoop up the flopping fish on the ground, I dashed to the bathroom and filled a basin with water. Saving them felt like saving myself. Seeing them swimming in the basin, I finally breathed a sigh of relief. But in the next second, a large hand appeared next to the basin and poured everything in it into the toilet!

Nicholas even flushed the toilet...

Gawking at the toilet, I felt my blood boil. Did I still fail to save those little lives?

I looked up at Nicholas and shouted, "You shouldn't disrespect their lives! I've been caring for them!"

He sneered, subtly hiding his trembling hand behind his back. He had exerted so much force that his palm began to bleed, but Ariana was too concerned about her fish to care about his injury.

"Do you intend to take your fish to Coral Villa, or do you prefer Pete to come here and think of you while staring at the fish?"

I was at a loss for words. Suddenly, I didn't know what I should say. Discussing life with him was clearly pointless. He even disregarded human lives, let alone those of fishes. The fish belonged to nowhere else they belonged here. But they were just as helpless as I was.

I lowered my head, instantly losing the desire to speak. Nicholas strode past me and ordered the driver, "Get someone to tear this place down. Leave no trace of its initial decor." The driver concurred swiftly, and I did not attempt to stop him. I was furious, but I felt more aggrieved.

It was better to tear it down and pretend that I had never been here. I could just imagine that nothing had ever happened.

Trailing behind Nicholas from a distance, I waited for a long time for the driver to come down from upstairs. Once the car began moving again, I felt like I was dead inside.

I slumped in my seat, not speaking a word to anyone else. Next, everything unfolded as expected. We returned to Radiant City and went back to Coral Villa.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

After such a long journey, I didn't want to run into Claudia and just wanted to go to sleep in the guest room.

But unexpectedly, Nicholas stopped me and said, "Stay in the master bedroom. I'll have Claudia move back to her room."

I was stunned, unable to fathom his intention. Didn't he say he wasn't going to give me any special treatment? In this case, it shouldn't matter if I had to sleep in the guest room.

He seemed to sense my confusion, yet he didn't intend to explain. "Remember, Ariana, you have no right to question what I say."

I dipped my head in silence. Since Yasmine hadn't called me yet, her situation must've remained unresolved. I had to endure this.

I went upstairs to the bedroom and found no trace of Claudia living in the bedroom. Even the clothes in the wardrobe were of my size.

My hands trembled as I picked up my pajamas, and it finally dawned on me that Nicholas had been preparing for my return for a long time.

I thought moving to Lexton City would mean a fresh start, but now it seemed like I had never escaped from him.

After a shower, I changed into pajamas. I expected to drift off soon, but the blanket and pillow all smelled like Nicholas. I kept trying to free myself from this situation while I was half-conscious.

It wasn't until I felt the bed sink and Nicholas lay down next to me that I jolted awake.

Once upon a time, he would come back to bed while I was half-asleep, and I would pretend to be asleep to curl up into his arms. Now, I lay at the edge of the bed, keeping a considerable distance from him.
