Trouble in Paradise

Chapter 0314

Clinging helplessly to the leather seat, I realized Nicholas had known all along.

"I'm not getting out." I shook my head. "It's pointless, and I won't come back here ever again."

I stole a glance outside the car window, hastily putting an end to the chapter of the past few days that felt like a dream. I just wanted to remember and cherish the memory. When I turned around, Nicholas was no longer in the car. He slammed the door shut. As if he could teleport, he suddenly appeared next to me and yanked the door open. Looking sullen, he grabbed my wrist and I couldn't even resist. I staggered out of the car, and before I could even steady myself, he stormed forward.

I lost my balance and collapsed to the ground. As I felt a jolt of pain through my ankle, Nicholas stopped and peered down at me.

Beads of sweat trickled into my eyes as I tilted my head back, sending a stinging sensation throughout my body.

Barely exerting any effort, Nicholas yanked me up from the ground with one hand. He didn't pity me. He merely thought I was in his way. "Nicholas..."

I couldn't keep up with him. Every step I took felt like I was stepping on nails.

"I sprained my foot... I..."

The agony subdued my tone. But before I could express my pain, he had already dragged me half a foot further.

"Remember, you came to me seeking help. From now on, you won't receive any special treatment here."

Nicholas felt Ariana wasn't worth it anymore. When they fought, she developed feelings for another man and ended up taking things seriously with that man.

From now on, her body and her feelings were of no interest to him. She was insignificant to him, so he wouldn't cherish her again.

I panted, gritting my teeth in a miserable state. I didn't say another word.

I could sense his urgency to enter the house that never belonged to him, but I couldn't fathom what he was trying to do.

Grabbing my hand, he unlocked the door and unceremoniously threw me at the doorway. The warm-toned home looked cozy, with a pair of pink slippers at the entrance. Everything was as I had left it.

A pair of unused men's slippers was on the rack, but Nicholas couldn't be bothered. He wasn't here as a guest, after all.

He stepped right on top of my slippers with his exquisite leather shoes and moved past them swiftly. His driver trailed after him.

The sound of his shoes clicking on the wooden floor echoed through the rooms. He had his hands tucked in his pockets as I watched him wander from one room to another.

He didn't even bother stepping into Pete's room, but he spent a long time in mine.

Just when I thought he had finally finished his tour, he suddenly went back to the living room and stared at the goldfish I bought.

There was a fish tank divider in the living room. From a distance, it seemed like the fish were swimming in the sky.

Back then, I told Pete that I loved this divider. If time allowed, I could spend the whole day staring at it. Pete had said that he'd be in charge of scrubbing the fish tank clean, while I would be responsible for watching the fish. He would ensure it stayed clean every day. A loud bang snapped me back to my senses. To my horror, I realized Nicholas had rolled up his sleeves and smashed a chair violently onto the fish tank divider!NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
