Trouble in Paradise

Chapter 0210

Every drop of blood in me froze in place when I heard Nicholas' roar. My mind was blank for a few seconds. It seemed that I would never be able to clear my good name.

Nicholas made his way to me. His dark brown eyes shone with fury as he glared at me. He was no longer hiding the distaste he harbored for me, and his gaze was as scary as flying daggers. Every step he took made it harder and harder for me to breathe.

I wondered what he was thinking. I couldn't tell if he thought that I was the mastermind behind it all or if he was furious because I accused his precious Claudia.

His dark brown eyes showed he was experiencing several emotions simultaneously, and none of them were in favor of me.

Nicholas pulled me up by the back of my collar. I couldn't control my body, and my legs moved clumsily. When I came around, I had already taken a few steps back and had hit the window pane inside the room.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

My womb stung a little. Sweat drenched my forehead, and I was glad that my back was the one that was hurt. If that hadn't been the case, the consequences would have been dire.

My palm defensively moved to my womb. I was protecting the baby, but Nicholas never even shot me another look.

He sat beside the bad and grabbed Jasmine by her arm. His voice was sweet when he said, "I'll have a nurse come and reattach the needle."

He helped Jasmine pull up her blanket and was going to leave. However, Jasmine grabbed him and requested, "Nicholas, can you stay here with me for a bit? I'm scared."

Her gaze was turning blank. Her blinking eyes were filled with sorrow and hopelessness.

Nicholas sighed quietly. He made his way to the side of the bed and jutted his chin out. His dark brown eyes showed no emotion when he gave me his orders. He said, "Go get a nurse."

After he said all that, he tilted his head down and looked at her. The side of his face was pointed at me, and that only showed how distant he was toward me.

I scanned the room to make sure that the person he spoke to was me.

My palm, which was over my womb, instinctively curled up. I turned to Jasmine and happened to meet her gaze. She trembled and quickly shifted her gaze. When she spoke again, her voice was extremely coarse. "It's fine. Don't trouble Mrs. Hawk."

Nicholas suddenly turned his face to me. He was frowning, and he had narrowed his dark brown eyes as he ordered, "Go now!"

It seemed I should have checked in with Lady Luck before I came. I wondered why I had to be so unlucky as to run into him.

When I thought about it though, it seemed only right that Nicholas would be here. After all, his future baby mommy and unborn child were gone. It wouldn't be right if he didn't show up.

No matter how upset I was, I wasn't going to be mean to a patient. I knew that giving her the best medical treatment available was the best way to compensate her at that moment.

I dragged my heavy feet and turned around. Everything seemed so funny.

I had always been a stubborn

s

person, and my objective had always

been the same. I wanted to work hard to be with Nicholas. Improving myself was simply to make him like me. Yet, things had taken a strange

turn.

Now, every time I saw him, the misunderstandings between us would deepen, and our relationship would worsen.

I wondered how he'd be in the future when he hung out with his friends. I thought about whether he would get drunk and have a scowl on his face when he waved at the others and complained, "That ex-wife of mine... I don't even want to talk about it."

"Nicholas, why don't you send me back? I can't help you anymore, and I don't want to stay in the country. Please let me leave."

When I closed the door, I heard Jasmine's soft voice in a pitiable tone coming from the gap in the door. What followed was Nicholas' heartfelt promise. He said, "You can go wherever you want after you recover."

"Nicholas, it's my good fortune to meet you in this lifetime. If it hadn't been for you, I'd likely already be dead. I won't be here right now.

"Unfortunately, I can no longer repay your kindness. This last thing I can do for you is no longer an option. I don't know what else I can do to help you."

"I didn't save you just so you'd be indebted to me. I protected you once, and I can do it again. Let me bear responsible for your future."

A small grin crept up on my lips as I

slowly closed the door. Ignoring the fact that he was a married man, Nicholas truly was so handsome that anyone would fall for him, saw in Jasmine's eyes that she had fallen for him.
