the table with Ryan.

“I'm Ryan, and you are?" He asked Sunny.

“I'm Sunny." She smiled at him.

“It's nice to meet you Sunny." He added.

“My pleasure." She answered.

“So it's just you two?" He motioned between them.

“Yeah, we used to hang out at the popular table with my brother, but not anymore," Hailey said.

“Why?" He further asked.

“Erm, because we never liked them and he forced us to sit there with him to keep him company, and

now he's gone to college, we don't sit there more." She explained.

“I see but I'm more of a popular kinda guy, you know, I'll bet in a few days I would be sitting with them."

He laughed eating his pudding.

“No doubt you are, you're beginning to sound like them anyways." Sunny dryly chuckled.

“She's right, you know." Hailey agreed.

“Whateves." He said as Hailey looked at her friend shaking her head.

He's such a douche. Hailey eye communicated with her as Sunny agreed.

“Um, Mr I- belong-with-the-popular-crowd, we are off to the next class see you around," Hailey said as

she and Sunny left him at the table.

“Hi, Jackie," Jess said as her sister picked the call.

“Hey Sis, what's up?" Shs responded.

“Nothing, just missing you, how's school?" She asked her.

“I miss you too Sissy. How's Ma and Zed?" She further inquired?

“Ma is fine, her ankle has healed and Zed, it's been a while I heard from him." She told.

“Well, I've got news for yah." She said excitedly.

“Spill then," Jess said plugging her earphones in her phone as she kept the phone in her pocket while

fixing a clients hair.

“I'm working with one of the biggest record labels on New York City," Jackie announced.

“That's the best news I've heard all week." She happily added.

“Aww, thank you, love, I would be home in a week to see you and mom, so we celebrate." She told.

“I can't wait." She added.

“Um, I guess you could leave now," Freya told the guy in her bed.

“I was getting quite comfortable, how about another round of fun." The guy suggested.

“I'm sorry but, I have some sleep to catch on, so if you don't mind you can leave." She fake smiled.

“Whatever bitch." The guy rudely added slipping his pants on.

“The pleasure is mine, honey, see you never." She called after him as she followed closely to make

sure he didn't steal anything. Just as he shut the door, she locked it and headed to the kitchen to make

herself an iced tea.

She had tried going on multiple dates as Carla advised but it wasn't working out. Her heart belonged to

only Zed and no one else.

Fuck love! She cried within.

She heard a knock at her door as she walked to open it to see who that was.

“Bad time?" Theeya, her best bud and Carla stood at the door with small tote bags.

“Nope, come in." She told.

Theeya was her close friend from high school to university but she moved to New York City and it had

been a while she has heard from her.

“Thanks, love." She pinched Freya's cheek as they entered with their stuff.

She only thought they had tote bags, but then she saw Theeya with a suitcase.

This is gonna be a long stay. Freya told herself.

“Jackie, could you sing Alicia Keys song, Powerful ft Jamal Lyon but you would find her part and Frank

would take Jamal's." Her manager said.

“Sure, sure." She said as she entered the studio, Frank had worn his headphones and was ready for

her to do the same. As soon as she did, the session began as they started to sing along to the beat.

“People have been talking about it

We won't just stand here in silence

Can't stop the fire from rising

Rising

Ooh Ooh

People don't you be afraid

So many innocents slain

This is an era for change

Change

And Malcolm's probably turning in his grave

Every shade was beautifully made

And Powerful

There's so much strength in you and me

Powerful

A breath away from victory

I matter

You matter

We matter, all

I matter

You matter

We matter, all

Powerful

Powerful

I see a colourful future

Where skin don't define any human

And stars are the only thing shooting

Shooting, wow oh

Mothers that bury their child

How can we sit there and hide

Change comes when all take a stand now

Stand up

Stand up

Martin's speech still echoes in my brain

Every shade was beautifully made

And Powerful

There's so much strength in you and me

Powerful

A breath away from victory

I matter

You matter

We matter, all

I matter

You matter

We matter, all

Powerful

Powerful

Oh Oh, Oh Oh, Oh. Oh

Oh Oh, Oh Oh, Oh. Oh

Oh Oh, Oh Oh, Oh. Oh

Powerful

There's so much strength in you and me

Powerful

A breath away from victory

I matter

You matter

We matter, all

I matter

You matter

We matter, all

Powerful

Powerful."

They both sang.

“That was fantastic, it sounded better than the original song." Her manager happily added.

“Thanks, Drew, that means a lot, and Frank thanks for singing with me." She said to him as he was

leaving the studio.

“The pleasure is mine Jackie, it's fun singing with you." He smiled.

“It's fine singing with you too love." She winked at him as she walked past him.

“So you're going to wallow in sorrow because of one man? Are you serious?" Theeya asked.

“Yeah, she is, she's whipped and he is also whipped around his boss's finger. I mean he loves his boss

too much, he can't see she's using him." Carla added.

“Alright, enough of the Zed talk, what's up with you Theeya?"

“Um, nothing much, just about getting hitched and I need you hitches, you be apart of my bridal train,

Freya, you're the maid of honour for sure." She seemed.

“You're getting married?" Both Carla and Freya asked.

“Yeah, I am, bitches change." She smirked as her friends looked at her shocked.
