Chapter 107 Sapphire Necklace

Chapter 107 Sapphire Necklace

"Mr. Webster..." Ranita leaned closer towards Chris, "why don't we stop bidding... this is too expensive! The starting price is 500, 000 dollars but now it has already gone past 1 million dollars!"

Auction prices rising slightly was normal but mainly because Ranita saw how determined Brendon seemed to win this particular item - she didn't want to waste money fighting over something unnecessarily!

"Are you sure you don't want me to keep bidding?" asked Chris leaning towards her - from certain angles they almost seemed like they could be whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears - very intimate yet full of warmth! Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Holly sitting on their opposite side gritted her teeth in frustration wishing desperately that she could just walk up there herself and pull them apart, but she instead found herself being held back by Shannon who whispered lowly "Holly don't do anything rash!"

"Shannon! I can't take it anymore!" Holly's heart felt like exploding with anger inside her chest.

"Calm down! Your brother is still here!" Shannon was happy to see Ranita getting closer to another man, which pushed Brendon further away.

"I overheard Ranita saying she wanted this necklace earlier..."

"Really? Don't let her have it, Shannon!" Holly was immediately fired up.

Shannon smiled. "When I buy it, I'll give it to you."

Holly was even more satisfied now. She would definitely wear the necklace in front of Ranita and make her jealous!

But Ranita didn't think too much about it. She frowned at Brendon as he bid again and then turned to Chris. "Let's not bid anymore."

She had planned on buying the necklace as a gift for someone else, but if she couldn't get it, she could choose something else.

"No need to compete with Brendon."

Chris said candidly, "If you really like it and are under financial pressure, I can pay for it first and you can pay me back later."

"My bottom line is 1. 5 million. If the price goes over that amount, forget about bidding," said Ranita.

"I've seen the catalog before; this sapphire is of good quality. I think we can get it within 2 million. Are you planning on giving this as a gift?" Chris asked again.

Ranita had participated in large auctions before but never bought anything herself.

"Well... it's for an older relative." She smiled without saying too much; Chris also wisely refrained from asking more questions and suggested, "This would be perfect for an older female relative! Since we're already bidding anyway, let's add another 500k and make the final price 2 million. If it goes over that amount then we won't bid anymore."

Ranita had been eyeing this necklace since seeing its listing in the catalog beforehand-not because there weren't other gifts available but because she didn't know what else to buy-and now having found a suitable sapphire necklace made things easier for her decision-making process.

"Okay! Thank you so much." Ranita whispered into Chris' ear with bright eyes and a smile on her lips-she seemed very happy indeed!

Brendon had been glancing at them several times throughout their conversation; when they reached a price of 1. 5 million, his eyes darkened as he suddenly grabbed onto Ranita's arm tightly while pulling her away from Chris towards himself...

"Mr Stuart? Is something wrong?" Thinking that Brendon might have some urgent matter at hand or needed help with something important, Ranita pulled back slightly, but saw his handsome face turn serious and cold as he slowly approached her...

His enlarged face collided with hers...

Breathing became closer, and the cold winter breath of the fir trees wrapped around them. The delicate light shone on his sharp jawline, and Ranita's heart seemed to brighten up with it.
