Chapter 106 Auction

"Chris... you're really going to help Ranita, aren't you?" Holly was about to cry from frustration. She wanted to confront Ranita but Chris was there and she didn't want to cause a scene.

Holly could only glare at Ranita before leaving in annoyance.

"She's just spoiled; don't mind her," Chris comforted Ranita who smiled and asked him why he trusted her so much despite not knowing if her dress was real or not.

"I guess it's because you're beautiful," Chris joked for once.

Ranita giggled. "This dress was sent over from Steland; I just happened upon it."

"Thank you for speaking up for me earlier! I have work to attend now."

As she spoke, she noticed Brendon looking at her five times already with an icy stare that nearly froze her alive.

Ranita had no choice but to return to her work station.

"Mr. Stuart, I'm sorry," she said.

"I thought you were going to the restroom? Did I just find out your restroom is with Chris?" Brendon hadn't noticed, but now he was not only sarcastic but also filled with bitterness.

"Mr. Stuart, you really have a great sense of humor," Ranita replied quietly. She looked up and realized that Brendon had leaned in very close to her while speaking, to the point that their faces were almost touching. No wonder she felt his warmth!

Ranita subtly moved away a bit, and Brendon's gaze turned even colder. "Do you think I'm joking with you?"

This woman had no shame; flirting with one of his friends then moving onto another... how could someone be so shameless?

Brendon felt like he had been pumped full of air until he might burst.

Ranitia remained silent. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

"Brendon, what were you talking about with Miss Bowman?" Suddenly leaning over from his seat next door came Shannon who asked curiously while peering over towards them both. "Could you tell me too?"

Ranitia smiled faintly before answering, "Miss Murphy, you can ask Mr. Stuart."

Shannon turned towards Brendon who handed over their list coldly without saying anything else, "Nothing important. Was there anything on here that caught your eye?"

"How about this one?" Shannon pointed to one of the auction items and asked Brendon.

Brendon casually glanced at it and nodded, "It's okay."

Ranita caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of her eye and realized that the auction item Shannon was pointing to was the sapphire necklace she wanted to bid on.

What a coincidence! If Shannon wanted it, Brendon would probably help her win it. Ranita knew she couldn't compete with him in terms of money, so she felt a bit anxious.

She was just about to tell Chris when he showed up and sat down on her right side. "Brendon, Shannon!" Chris nodded in greeting and handed Ranita a bottle of water.

It was already open.

Ranita smiled gratefully at Chris and whispered softly, "Thank you!"

"You're welcome!" Chris smiled back.

Brendon saw this scene clearly; his eyes were dark as he looked at Ranita without much expression but with some coldness passing over his face.

Ranita shivered under his gaze; she didn't know what she had done wrong to offend him.

The auction officially began. The attendees were all wealthy people who bid against each other for items they liked, creating an exciting atmosphere!

Of course, if there were any less popular items that weren't being bid on by anyone else, there would be insiders from the auction house who would make bids themselves - these were all insider secrets that outsiders wouldn't know about.

Soon enough they reached item number twelve. As soon as the host announced bidding had begun for this item, people started making offers one after another until only two people remained: Brendon and Chris. The two men locked eyes across the room; sparks flew between them instantly.
