Chapter 978
Yuri loathed her so deeply that he'd rather let the whole world know he'd been cuckolded than stay tethered to her? To end this marriage? The envelope was thick, its packaging intact. Yet its contents, if exposed, would reduce everything she'd built over the years to ashes! Perched above her, Yuri peered down at Leila. "You know exactly what's in here."
"Hand it over, let me see," Dylan quickly ordered his grandson, eager to see what could drive Yuri to such fury.
"No, you can't!"
Leila was quicker, snatching the envelope. "These things can't be seen."
Dylan was confused. "Leila, I thought you didn't want a divorce. Open it, let me see. I'll stand by you."Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Leila's face was pale, her head shaking uncontrollably. "No, it can't be done."
Dylan moved to advance on her.
Leila, still pale, retreated continuously. "No, we can't let these things out..."
Her panic was palpable as she turned to Yuri in desperation. "I agree to the divorce, just don't expose this!"
Yuri's eyes narrowed sharply, and he snatched the envelope, tearing it open for all to see.
"Over the past thirty years, Leila is suspected of embezzling over ten billion, indulging her family, and lining her own pockets, leading to losses of over ten billion for the Lynette Conglomerate..." Leila shuddered violently.
Even Dylan, who had been on her side, changed color, gripping his cane tightly. The others clenched their teeth in anger; that money should have been theirs! "Stop reading, stop! I'll sign. I'll sign."
Compared to the ultimate scandal, embezzlement was a minor issue. She knew Yuri well-if she didn't sign now, she'd be utterly ruined!
Leila scrambled together, her hand trembling as she penned her name, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Yuri, I truly loved you. Why couldn't you ever accept me?" She lamented over her name on the divorce papers.
If it hadn't been for Yuri's lingering thoughts of Juliana, how could she ever have strayed, let alone be caught red-handed!
With the divorce papers signed, the marriage was over.
Dylan left in a huff of indignation. The rest of the Lynette family followed, spitting venomously as they went.
Billions squandered by Leila-how could they not be aggrieved?
Leila collapsed on the ground, drained of all strength.
Yuri towered over her, pulling out a stack of photos from the envelope and tossing them at Leila's feet. "I haven't exposed these, but if you dare to cross Bri again, I guarantee they'll hit the media immediately." Leila, ashen and tear-streaked, clung to Yuri's legs. "Yuri, please don't do this to me. I truly love you. It was them, they seduced me. I really love you..."
Yuri felt nothing but irritation, shaking off Leila's grasp and crouching before her. "Tell me, Leila, does the mysterious disappearance of Juliana from Craneville all those years ago have anything to do with you?' Leila's head shook frantically. "I don't know anything. I swear I don't know anything."
Yuri waved a hand. "Pack her things."
After years within the Lynette family, Leila was now cast out. The servants, long oppressed, felt a sense of relief.
Leila had many possessions, and Yuri gave her half a day to sort them.
Brittany hadn't expected Yuri to be so thoroughly prepared.
"Dad, if you had this evidence all along, why didn't you divorce her sooner?"
"I wasn't capable enough."
Initially, it was due to his lack of power. Later, he simply resigned himself to his fate.
