Chapter 1223
In the afternoon, the Cedillo family finally got the good news: everyone was safe and sound. Relief washed over them like a wave. Leo sank into the sofa, feeling all the tension drain from his body. Meanwhile, Molly was at the office, tears streaming down her face, "Mom, I need to get to the hospital. Andre mentioned they're there, and someone must be hurt."
Coleen nodded, "Hang tight, honey. Chad will swing by to pick you up, and you both can go together. I'd worry if you went alone."
The team got a reassuring call from Annie. Chad headed straight to his mom's office at Chade Inc., "Mom, can you keep an eye on Wayne for a bit? Molly and I are headed to the hospital and we don't want to bring the kids."
"Don't worry about a thing. I'll hold him tight. Go on, your dad's picking me up later tonight." Coleen cuddled her little grandson close, not even daring to lay Wayne down in his crib.
In his slumber, Wayne seemed to hear his dad's voice, shifting in his swaddle like he wanted to wake up and find him. But by the time he did, his parents had already rushed off to the hospital.
With both his dad and his "lazy" mom gone, Wayne's little whimpers grew louder, his tiny mouth pouting and tears welling up in his eyes. Coleen rocked him gently, trying to calm him down.
Over in the Water Ripple neighborhood, Leo was also in a hurry, driving his girlfriend to the hospital. Since they were out in the suburbs while others were in the city, the family got there first, with Andre arriving fashionably late.
Even Aaron Madison was alerted. Hansen, in his haste, left without his cane or a second thought about his outfit, heading straight for the hospital.
When they arrived, the sight of the little one tugged at everyone's heartstrings. Hansen, overwhelmed with emotion, hurried over, arms wide open, "Oh, my little darling, my life! Who did this to you? I'd give anything to get back at them." Hearing his grandpa's words, Henry pouted, feeling a bit wronged.
The Irvin family rushed to their daughter, checking her over, "Dad, Mom, I'm fine, really. I can handle myself. It's Henry and Annie who got hurt."noveldrama
Seeing the tiny, teary bundle, Madison couldn't hold back her tears, "If Cooper saw his precious little one hurt, it'd break his heart."
"We should keep Henry's injuries under wraps, don't tell Cooper," Mia advised, always protective of her little brother. "The situation's too complex, and if he finds out, he won't let it slide."
Leo jumped out of the car, not even bothering to lock it, "Mia, sweetie."
For once, Leo sprinted faster than Anya, scooping up the Cedillo family's little treasure. Seeing the swollen little face, his eyes brimmed with empathy, "Come on, buddy, tell your big bro how much it hurts."
For the first time, Henry experienced the warmth of brotherly love, wrapping his tiny arms around his brother's neck, snuggling up with a pitiful look.
Cradling his little buddy, Leo turned his gaze to Mia.
"I'm okay, really," Mia assured him.
"Mia! Mia!" Molly called out, running full tilt and enveloping Mia in a tight hug. Her lips were pale with worry, tears spilling over as she clung to her, "You scared the life out of me!"
"It's not me, it's your nephew."
Molly turned to her nephew, tears of affection streaming down her face. Henry, feeling a bit sorry for himself and wanting to be babied, tried to hold back his tears as soon as his aunt showed up.
Barely three minutes in his brother's arms, his aunt swooped in, pulling him into a tight hug.
Henry squirmed, a bit uncomfortable; didn't Auntie know you couldn't squeeze a chubby sweetie too hard? It squished all his soft little bits.
What do you think?
