Chapter 328

“Please come in, Mr. Walker.”

“You first, Mr. Hawkins.” If I wasn’t awake before, I was now. It really was Eric. I wouldn’t dream of him

coming to my father’s company for a visit. Unintentional pun. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have come here in

the first place. What should I do?

I sat up and rubbed my forehead, my frustration peaking. After the conversation, I hoped Eric would

leave so I wouldn’t have to leave feeling awkward, but luck wasn’t on my side.

Instead of leaving after they were done talking, he stayed for lunch. My dad wouldn’t leave me alone,

so he came knocking. “Are you awake, Lily? It’s lunch time.”

Left with no choice, I opened the door and saw Eric sitting on the couch, smiling. When he saw me, he

quickly got up. My dad, thinking we didn’t know each other, made the introductions. “This is my

daughter, Lilian. Lillian, this is Mr. Walker.”

“No need for introductions, Mr. Hawkins. I know her and she knows me.” Eric smiled.

“Is that so?”

“Yes. Lilian is a famous designer in Riverdale. She designed my company’s new hotel as well as the

sky garden.”

“Really?” My dad looked at me in surprise and disbelief.

I followed them into the mess hall awkwardly. The cafeteria at my dad’s company was similar to the one

at the Walker Group, and after we sat down, my dad asked Eric to order, but he gave me the

menu. “Lilian can do the requests. We like the same kind of food.”

“Serious? Do you like spicy food too, Mr. Walker?” My father looked surprised.

Okay, right. This is a big lie, I thought.

Just as I was about to grab the spiciest food to torture his taste buds, Eric saw through my plan. “Lilian,

your back is hurting, so let’s not eat anything spicy today. Grab something light.”

“Does your back hurt, Lily? How come I don’t know that?” My father was confused.

“There was an accident when we went to inspect the work site yesterday, and she hurt her back. I

should have paid more… attention.” Eric looked apologetic.

My father was heartbroken. “You should have told us. Why didn’t you tell? No wonder you look so tired

today.”

“It’s not that serious, dad. It’s just a scratch.” I cursed Eric under my breath and ordered nothing

spicy. It was a relatively happy lunch, and this shameless idiot cut the meat into small pieces for me

and filled a bowl of soup for my dad. Everyone thought he was being nice but I knew better so I made

fun of him.

After lunch, Eric spent some time at my father’s company before leaving. My father wanted to send him

away, but he refused. Half-jokingly, he said, “Okay, Mr. Hawkins. Lilian is my friend, so she can send

me.”

How shameless could this idiot get? I held back my anger and sent him away. After we left the office,

he whispered, “Does it still hurt?”

I turned away, ignoring him, but he didn’t care. “I have a box of ointment for you. It’s in my car, so come

with me to get it.”

“No.” I looked down at my feet. Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

“I spent a lot of time last night getting the ointment for you. It is effective against scars.”

said no.” I was getting impatient.
