After entering the office, I quickly asked my father about it. He shook his head. “You never ask around
about us, huh?”
“Aunt Luna’s family is bad with us. Why would I care about her?”
“Their company was shut down for mismanagement, and the court confiscated their assets. Luna came
and begged me, so I let Jared work here.”
“That’s generous of you, Dad. Can you forgive her after everything she’s done?”
I knew how horrible Aunt Luna was to my father. She not only tarnished his reputation and ripped off
his customers, but also spread rumors about Dad’s company being involved in tax evasion. This
caused stock prices to fall. Dad got over it all, but then Aunt Luna did something unforgivable, causing
my mom to miscarry.
I was only two years old or so at the time, so I didn’t remember what happened. All I knew was that
Mom was having a boy. She was already in her second trimester, but Aunt Luna pushed her down the
stairs, causing the baby’s death and making my mother infertile. Because of this, Dad cut all ties with
Aunt Luna. We never spoke to their family again, so I couldn’t understand how she could still ask Dad
for help after everything she’d done.
“No, that is not the case. She is my sister, after all, and she is in a sorry state. I can’t just stand by and
do nothing.” He sighed.
There was nothing more I could say about it, as blood was thicker than water. Aunt Luna may be a
traitorous piece of trash, but that doesn’t mean my dad had to abandon her. As long as it gives you
peace of mind I guess. As my dad continued working, I flipped through my phone, feeling bored. Then
his assistant knocked on the door and entered. “President Hawkins, this is the proposed collaboration
with the Walker Group. Please have a look.”
Walker Group? Is it Eric’s company? A moment later, I went to my father’s side and looked at the
proposal. Yes, it’s his company. My dad then asked me to sit next to him. “Try to learn a little about
it. Don’t just design all day.”
“I am not interested in management.”
“No one is born interested in anything. They would have to learn.” My father looked helpless. “Learn
while I can teach. I don’t want the company to be taken over by someone else when I die.”
It surprised me. Is Dad trying to say something? Did he find out about Carson’s plan? Hmm, not really
possible. If he found out about Carson’s plan, there was no way my dad wouldn’t scold him. “Okay,
dad. I will learn from you. I have to know the process, right?” I forced a smile.
“Is good to hear that.” My father didn’t force me now that I had agreed to learn and went back to
reading the proposal. A little while later, he scoffed. “Walker is ambitious.”
“What?” I looked at him confused.
“He is already setting his goal at such a young age. He is… visionary.” My father closed the proposal, a
dejected look on his face. I knew he was thinking of my unborn brother. If Aunt Luna hadn’t done that,
he could have graduated from university and run the company by now. My father wouldn’t have to work
so hard as he would have an heir.
I didn’t know how to comfort him, so I got up. “I’ll make you some tea, Dad.”

When I returned with the tea, my father was on the phone. “Clear. I look forward to your visit.”
Someone’s coming to visit, huh? When he hung up, I handed him the cup of tea. “Have some tea.”
My dad took a sip and smiled at me. “You can rest in the waiting room if you are tired. I’ll call you when
it’s lunchtime.”
