Chapter 50
Jessica said seriously as she bent down slightly and wrapped her arms around her children.
"Okay, I've just sent you the address. I won't be picking you up. Trevor will definitely send someone to monitor my movements, so we have to keep a distance from each other for the time being. Jessica, you must keep the children safe and hidden." Alfred knew how hurt Jessica was when the Queen family fell apart. Thus, he naturally didn't want to stop her.
"You can rest assured."
Jessica nodded determinedly. Then, she led the children out of the airport and went to the house that Alfred had prepared in advance.
As soon as she opened the door, the children ran up to Yolanda excitedly and called out her name happily. "Yolanda!"
"Hello, naughty children. Did you listen to your Mom during the past few months I was away?"
The woman with long and curly hair who was sitting
on the couch got up. Then, she spread her slender arms and wrapped her arms around the children.
"Huh? Faye, you've lost weight while Asher has gained weight. Caleb and Emery, both of you have gotten taller. Dylan, why don't you sing me a song? I missed your voice. Without your singing, I am not able to go to sleep at night."
While the five children played with Yolanda, Jessica took off her heels, changed into slippers, and entered the kitchen.
"You are already an adult, but you always order takeout whenever I'm not around. I wonder who would want to marry you. Why don't you find a chef to be your boyfriend?"
"Jessica, I cooked for you everyday when you first went abroad to find me three years ago."
Yolanda's angry reply could be heard coming from the living room.
Hearing that, Jessica smiled helplessly and thought, "Fortunately, Yolanda was willing to provide me with food and shelter three years ago. Otherwise, if I had to spend Alfred's money on food and shelter, I probably will never be able to repay his kindness in this lifetime."
After Jessica finished cooking, she typed out a resume and submitted a few job applications.
Her business overseas was put on hold since she returned home. She couldn't fully depend on her savings, so she had to work to earn some income. Besides, in order to reclaim the Queen family's assets, she had to enter the workforce.
With her identity and resume, she soon received a reply from a reputational company. Even though it was just a secretary position, it was a good start.
After Jessica did the interview, she successfully got the job as the manager's secretary.
The next morning, she woke up early and put on some light makeup. Then, she strode to the company's secretarial department in her high heels.
The other employees told her that a big shot was coming to the company that day. For the rest of the morning, the manager wasn't around the office. Thus, Jessica went around to learn about her job responsibilities.
It was until noon when she saw a fat and short man in glasses enter the office. He looked exactly like the man in the picture on the manager's desk.
"Are you the new secretary? The chairman of the company will be coming by later. Go prepare the required documents and follow me to the conference room."Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Yes, sir."
Jessica didn't dare to waste any time. She hurriedly grabbed all the files and followed behind him.
Inside the conference room, almost all the higher-ups were sitting in their seats nervously. All of them were prepared to welcome the chairman.
"The sales department's financial report must be well-prepared and make sure there are no mistakes. C-Coffee. Did you prepare coffee?"
The manager was extremely anxious. When Jessica saw the empty coffee cup in front of the chairman's seat, she hurriedly took the responsibility and said, "I'll go prepare the coffee right now." "Go, quick!"
With that, Jessica left the conference room with the empty cup. When she was grinding coffee beans in the pantry, she heard the chatter of a crowd approaching the conference room.
Jessica guessed that it was the chairman. Hence, she hurriedly picked up the coffee cup and made the coffee according to her usual coffee drinking habits.
When she returned to the conference room, the door wasn't closed, so she walked in with the coffee.
Afraid that something might go wrong, Jessica focused her gaze on the coffee cup as she walked up to the chairman's seat and didn't look up even once. It was until she placed the coffee cup in front of the chairman that she looked up and said respectfully, "Please enjoy your..."
When she looked up and saw the man in front of her, she instantly froze.
It was the only man she knew that had a tall figure, a cold and handsome appearance, and a domineering aura.
