Chapter 49
Trevor carried his suitcase and walked into the airport. Just when he was about to enter the VIP waiting room, a childish voice sounded next to him. "Mr. Whiteburn, shall we wait for the others?"
Upon hearing that, Trevor turned around and saw a man holding a little girl and walking past him.
That man was none other than Alfred, and that little girl was Faye.
Trevor came back to his senses and hurriedly catch up to them. In the blink of an eye, he could only see Alfred walking alone.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
"Hey, Mr. Gulliford. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Staring at Trevor who blocked his way, Alfred seemed as if nothing had happened.
"Where is Faye?"
Trevor grabbed Alfred's collar. It was impossible that he had gotten the wrong person. That little girl was definitely Faye.
"Faye?" Alfred dodged and freed himself from Trevor's grasp forcefully. "Mr. Gulliford, are you hallucinating? I don't see anyone else with me in this broad daylight."
"Where is the girl you were holding earlier? Alfred Whiteburn, stop putting on an act in front of me!"
"I'm sure that I didn't see wrongly. Besides, Faye spoke too, and that childish voice was definitely hers.
I can't be wrong. She must be one of my children who had gone missing," Trevor thought.
"I know an expert brain specialist. Let me introduce the doctor to you someday, Mr. Gulliford," taunted Alfred. He then turned around and left right away.
With his eyes fixed on Alfred's back, Trevor's gaze was full of determination. "I can't be wrong. That girl must be Faye. Alfred hid the kids somewhere. I must look for them and leave Herington!" Trevor muttered to himself.
At a corner some distance away, the five children looked at the woman before them. Blinking, none of them dared to utter a word.
"Mommy, it was my fault. I shouldn't have walked out with Mr. Whiteburn."
Faye pursed her lips and lowered her head in guilt.
The woman in front of Faye was wearing limited edition high heels, a customized off-shoulder short dress designed by a renowned designer from abroad, and a pair of sunglasses. Her delicately done makeup made her look nothing like the crippled woman three years ago.
"Faye, you're a good girl. It wasn't your fault," replied Jessica in a gentle manner. She then caressed Faye's dark hair with her long, slender fingers.
"Jessica, I think Trevor found out. What about you go back abroad first and come back sometime later?"
Alfred walked over, and he seemed slightly concerned.
"Alfred, I can't keep hiding overseas. I want to take back everything that belongs to the Queen family from Jonathan and Trevor. Don't worry. I'll not let Trevor find out about me," Jessica replied gently as she took off the sunglasses.
That face no longer looked like the face from three years ago.
After the car accident, she had not died. Alfred had used some tricks to cover up for her in the emergency room. That "dead" Jessica was only a corpse that looked a lot like her after getting a makeover.
She had suffered severe injuries on her face after the accident, so she had undergone plastic surgery. Besides, she had been doing some business abroad with Yolanda for the past three years, and her business seemed to be running well with Alfred's help. Aside from that, her leg was cured and her ruptured eardrum was treated too. She could finally live like a normal human now.
Nonetheless, she had been missing Bennett, for she was unable to meet him. Her other children had often cried and looked for Bennett too.
"Jessica, I'll support you no matter what you do, but..."
Alfred let out a heavy sigh. He wanted to speak his mind, yet he was afraid that Jessica would think of him as a selfish person.
"Alfred, don't worry. I'll not do silly things again. You saved me. I've only come this far because of your help. The old Jessica had died in the war, and the other had died in a car accident three years ago. I only come back for Bennett and the Queen family but not for anything else."
