Chapter 42
"Sammie, it has been five years. Have you reincarnated into someone else? You're such a kind woman. You must've gone to heaven, right?" Jessica muttered to herself as she bowed.
"My mother told me that God will take out a human's heart to put it on a scale after they pass away. He'll then compare the weight of that heart with a feature. An innocent, kind heart will weigh lighterthan a feather. On the contrary, those who have committed crimes and evil deeds in their lives will have heavier hearts. Those whose hearts are lighter than a feather will go to heaven. As for the rest, they'll descend to hell. Sammie, you'll definitely go to heaven. B-But then, I'll go to hell. After all, I've dragged so many people into the mess. You died because of me, and I also brought trouble upon the Queen family, including my mother. I'm the best candidate to go to hell. Nevertheless, I still feel unsatisfied from time to time. I should be a noble, proud young lady. I used to be my mother's most precious person. H-How did I end up in this state..."
Jessica had the urge to cry out loud. She wanted to let out everything in her heart in front of Samantha.
Truthfully, she was grateful that her tear ducts were
damaged most of the time. After all, those who humiliated or mocked her would not feel that superior as long as she didn't cry. However,
she really wished that she could cry her lungs out at that moment.
No matter how cold-hearted a person was, they still had a heart, and they would have to find a way to let their emotions out sometimes.
Jessica bowed again and again. Apart from doing that to apologize to Samantha, she also prayed that Bennett could survive his illness.
Her soft voice echoed in the graveyard. She didn't dare to stop bowing at Samantha's
tombstone as she was worried that God would blame her for being insincere.
Her phone screen was broken, so she couldn't call anyone. She was worried about Bennett's condition, but she was afraid that Trevor would regret his decision if she left the graveyard.
Kneeling in front of Samantha's tomb, Jessica didn't dare to stand up.
Meanwhile, a car had stopped outside the graveyard for a long time. Staring at Jessica, who kneeled on the ground, he lowered his eyes.
"Mr. Gulliford, we should go back to the hospital now. You've just donated your bone marrow.
The doctor says you have to stay in the hospital for further observation," Martin reminded.
"All right. Let's go back now." Trevor leaned against the seat and closed his eyes slowly. He had been sleepless for days. Furthermore, he had just finished donating his bone marrow, so he was exhausted.
Soon, it was nightfall. There was a tiny house in the graveyard. Initially, it was the graveyard keeper's house. However, he had gone home to settle some affairs fora few days. Thus, Jessica could stay there for the time being.
Jessica used the landline phone in the house to give Monica a call. Monica told herthatthe bone marrow transplantation surgery was successful, so she didn't have to worry about it. She then told Jessica to come and visit Bennett once she was free. After Jessica said good night to Bennett and the kids, she hung up the phone reluctantly.
More than ten minutes later, a series of footsteps echoed from outside. "Why are there so many people in the graveyard?" Jessica wondered.
Putting up her guard, she hid under the table warily. The entire house was pitch black as she didn't switch on any lights. She clenched the dagger she brought along with her tight.
She had used two daggers in the past few days since her return. Although the daggers she bought in Horington were not as useful as the ones she picked up from the battlefield, she could still use them to protect herself.
"Where is she?"
"Shh! Be quiet."
Jessica heard voices coming from outside, so she knitted her brows hard. She was sure that they were here for her.
For some reason, the group of people didn't barge into the house after circling it for a long time.
A moment later, Jessica suddenly felt her body fall weak. It was then she realized those people had used sleeping gas on her. "Damn it! They are so
despicable!" she cursed internally.
Bang!
As soon as the door opened, a few men entered the room to search for her.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
"Hurry up and come out. Why are you even hiding?"
"I know, right! You've inhaled oursleeping gas.
There's no way that you'll get to escape. How about you come out now and have some fun with us?"
