Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 779

Chapter 779:

Even if Allison was beautiful, so what? In the end, she would still have to lower herself to Fiona’s will. Fiona felt a rush of satisfaction at the thought of making Allison look so humiliated. She even gave a smug order to her group, saying, “Take out your phones. This is a moment that needs to be captured. It’s too good to miss.”

At her command, many people quickly raised their phones.

But just as Allison was about to kneel, someone grabbed her wrist and yanked her up.

“Let me see who has the guts to make her kneel,” a firm male voice filled the room.noveldrama

Everyone turned in shock to see the man who had appeared out of nowhere. Verruckt, clad in a black suit, exuded an aura that was both fierce and menacing. His silver hair stood out, catching the light and gleaming coldly beneath the crystal chandelier.

Those who had been ready to snap pictures quickly tucked their phones away. After all, crossing this madman could lead to dangerous trouble!

“Verruckt, what are you doing here?”

Fiona’s eyes brightened when she saw him. Realizing she had acted too hastily, she cleared her throat twice to cover herself. “She was being disrespectful, so I thought I’d teach her some manners.”

But Verruckt didn’t even acknowledge her. His attention was entirely on Allison.

“You’re incredibly stupid,” he said bluntly, his words cutting through the air like a sharp blade. Yet, the hand that held Allison’s wrist was firm and warm.

“You don’t have to kneel to anyone here,” he said firmly.

Allison knew her gamble had paid off. Verruckt had been watching the scene from nearby, indifferent to whether he upset Fiona.

She sighed helplessly and muttered, “I think I’ve really messed things up.”

The tension between them, as if no one else existed, only made Fiona’s anger grow.

“Verruckt, you hardly ever come to our family’s banquets. Are you really going to let her drag you into this mess?” she snapped.

He responded with a sarcastic laugh. “I haven’t been to an Immortality Group event in ages, but standing up for someone I care about isn’t a scandal.”

Verruckt turned his gaze to Fiona, his face unreadable. “Miss Smith, you shouldn’t treat my people like that over some trifles.”

He didn’t even bother calling Fiona by her first name, addressing her coldly by her last name instead.

Fiona was caught off guard, then felt a surge of injustice. “She was the one who humiliated me first!” she exclaimed.

To lower herself and explain all this just because of an orphan from a disgraced family — someone of Fiona’s status could never accept that.
