Chapter 1007
Chapter 1007:noveldrama
Her footing was unsure, as if she might fall at any moment. She tried to smile, but the tears came without warning.
“This is all my choice. I’m weak. I can’t escape my parents. The time I spent with you was the best time of my life. You needed me, and that made me feel like I had a place in this world. That’s why, now, I don’t want to be tied to my parents anymore. I want to be free.” Tears filled Amya’s eyes quickly as she spoke.
She didn’t want to use the four hundred thousand Allison had given her. She knew her parents would only waste it. She understood that whether it was four hundred thousand or four million, it would end up wasted.
Troy had reminded her that she was their daughter and could never truly escape them. But now, Amya didn’t want to be held down any longer.
Allison saw right through her thoughts.
“You really think death will set you free?” Allison’s gaze remained fixed on Amya, her tone sharp.
The spot where Amya stood was dangerous. The rocks were slippery, and one wrong move could send her tumbling into the sea.
“Let me tell you something. Even if you die, your parents won’t feel guilty. They might cry for a while, but they’ll forget about you soon enough.” Allison spoke through clenched teeth, her voice tight with the anger she was holding back.
She had once thought the same way. As a child, she believed her parents had abandoned her. She even considered finding them and ending her life in front of them, making them feel guilty for the rest of their lives. But later, her mentor had shown her that this kind of thinking only tormented herself.
“You don’t owe your parents anything. You don’t have to give up your life to fix things. And aside from them, at least I care about you. Amya, don’t let the people you hate take everything from you.” Every word Allison spoke was something her mentor had once told her.
The past and present blurred together. The only difference now was that she was reaching out to someone else.
Amya’s voice cracked, and tears streamed down her face. She wasn’t fully committed to this choice. But when she thought about the things her parents had said recently, she didn’t want to pull Allison into this mess.
“Ms. Clarke, thank you.” Amya’s voice shook as she shook her head. “But my parents are never satisfied. Even if I run away, they’ll use the police to find me. They’ll keep contacting me wherever I go, forcing me to get money from you.” Those were Troy’s exact words.
They had told her that unless she was dead, they would never stop searching for her.
If Amya had been alone, she wouldn’t have been scared. But she knew well that her parents would go after Allison. They would do anything — even the worst, most ruthless things.
“I don’t want to pull you and Mr. Lloyd into this. I don’t want them to keep bothering me.”
The more Amya talked, the more hopeless she felt. She took a step back, then another.
