Salute To The General

Chapter 2626

Inside the White House, Garrett was currently lying on the bed in his chamber.

There was a bunch of medical equipment around him.

Additionally, there was also a royal physician and a nurse serving him his medicine.

His wife, Paisley, brought Nathan and Penny inside.

She whispered to Garrett, "Mr. and Mrs. Cross are here to visit you, Hubby."

Garrett had lost a lot of weight, but he seemed pretty energetic that night.

His haggard face revealed an enthusiastic smile when he saw Nathan. He greeted warmly, "You're here, Nathan."

Nathan smiled. "We're here to visit you, President Woods!"

Penny bowed slightly. "Greetings, President Woods!"

"Don't stand on ceremony with me." Garrett smiled.

The royal physician who had just served Garrett his medicine was the person in charge of all royal physicians, Seamus Valeman.NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.

Seamus smiled at the couple. "Greetings, Chief Cross and Mrs. Cross."

"Greetings, Dr. Valeman. Thanks for your hard work."

Seamus quickly denied, "I can't take credit for this because I haven't made any good progress with the president's illness. Usually, I'll opt for the conservative way to treat this illness. The treatment plan proposed to the president was decided by me, Mrs. Cross, and the others after discussions. The medicine prescribed for the president was provided by the cancer medication research and development team in Mrs. Cross' company. I'm not doing anything substantial other than helping to administer the medicine."

Nathan's eyebrows were slightly furrowed when he heard that. There's something off about his demeanor. He seems to be humble, but I feel that he's trying to push his responsibility away.

However, Nathan didn't dwell on that.

After all, Garrett was the president, and he had late-stage kidney cancer. Nathan reckoned that Seamus was probably just afraid of being scolded for not being able to save the president if things went south. Therefore, Seamus had shifted all the responsibility onto Penny, and the latter would be the one to blame should something bad happen.

Nathan didn't like what Seamus was doing, of course, but he could understand the situation the doctor was in.

Therefore, he chose not to call Seamus out for his despicable move.

Instead, Nathan merely asked flatly, "How's President Woods' condition?"

Seamus' eyes twirled around before he uttered, "It seems that his condition is getting a little better."

His reply upset Nathan quite a bit. The more Nathan looked at Seamus, the more he found Seamus to be a sly fox. Seamus is a cautious man. Everything he says leaves room for imagination. That way, he won't be held accountable should something happen.

Nathan waved his hand. "All right, you can leave now."

Seamus bowed. "I'll be taking my leave now, President Woods, First Lady, Chief Cross, and Mrs. Cross." After he left, Nathan spat unhappily, "What a slimy guy. I asked him about your condition, yet he told me that crap."

Garrett smiled. "Don't blame him,

Nathan. To be honest, even I myself have no confidence that I can recover, let alone him. If Cross

Group's medicine can cure me, then it means Lady Luck is on my side: However, if it can't, I won't blame anyone else. Seamus is worried that hemight be in trouble if he fails to cure me. That's why he's acting like that. It's only natural that he doesn't want to leave any dirt for people to use against him. Don't mind him."

Nathan said, "I don't care about him. I just want to know if you're feeling better or not, President Woods."

Penny smiled. "I can tell you that. Over the past two weeks, President Woods' condition has become slightly better after he took our company's medicine. If it keeps up, I estimate he'll start to recover sometime between six months and a year."

Nathan was happy to hear that. "That's great."

Hope glimmered in Garrett's and Paisley's eyes when they heard Penny's words.

Garrett said, "If I can survive this, you two will be my saviors."

Nathan replied, "We're friends.

There's no need to say that. Besides, everyone in the country is waiting for you to recover and guide our country to prosperity!"

Hope and anticipation filled Garrett's heart. After all, no one would want to die if they could live longer.

Both of them chatted for a while before the topic suddenly changed to the big event that occurred that day. Nathani wanted to know what Garrett thought of the matter, so he asked Do you know the Cab has been a mess after you became ill President Woods? Have you heard about the ridiculous thing that happened earlier today?"

Garrett cast him a meaningful look and said, "You're talking about Zion being taken away by the Integrity Department's Special Investigation Unit because he was suspected of being involved in corruption, right?"

Nathan smiled bitterly. "That's right! I think the way Braydon handled the situation is inappropriate. He

could've handled that matter in t

better way and softened the blow. Yet, he chose to use the most violent way that would bring great negative impact.

What do you think about this, President Woods?"
