Salute To The General

Chapter 2625

Hansel's birthday banquet ended in a sour note.

Once it was over, Hansel asked Nathan to stay back so they could talk in private.

Nathan said apologetically, "I wanted to celebrate your birthday and make you happy, Mr. Windsor. I didn't expect things to turn out so badly."

Hansel waved his hand. "It's not your fault. I know Zion and Erwin have been battling against each other, but I didn't expect that Erwin would go so far. If Zion had a financial issue, Erwin could've brought it up during a meeting and requested the president to conduct an investigation on Zion. And yet, he chose to bring Zion in publicly for the investigation. Once the news spread, things will become difficult to deal with."

Nathan said, “Erwin's willing to disregard the consequences and do whatever it takes to defeat his opponent."

A look of confusion appeared in Hansel's eyes.

He explained, "Actually, Erwin alone wouldn't be able to lay a finger on Zion. After all, Zion is the cab secretary. He's half a rank higher than Erwin!"

Hearing that, Nathan furrowed his eyebrows.

It was then that he remembered what he had seen on the warrant which Braydon had shown to Zion before the latter was taken away. There was not only Erwin's signature on the warrant, but Garrett's signature was right next to Erwin's.

Nathan knew Garrett preferred Erwin.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

However, he didn't expect that Garrett would allow Erwin to send someone to arrest Zion without discussing the matter with others. Nathan fell into deep thought. Is Garrett dead set on making Erwin the next president? What is making him hold Erwin in high regard?

Hansel stared at Nathan and said calmly, "On the surface, it may appear that Zion and Erwin are duking it out, but in actuality, Garrett's the one deciding who wins and who loses. To put it simply, whoever Garrett helps out will win."

Hansel paused for a few seconds before calling out, "Nathan!" "Yes?" answered Nathan.

Hansel said, "I have a favor to ask of you."

Nathan hurriedly replied, “Just tell me what you need, Mr. Windsor. And please don't use the word 'favor.""

Hansel said, "Zion has been my subordinate since the time of me being a leader of a county back then. He has followed me everywhere, all the way into Brimmopolis. That's why I know what kind of person he is. He's an honest and experienced man. Over the decades he serves as my subordinate, I've never seen him strapped for cash before. How could he be involved in corruption in just a few years after I retired?"

“So you're saying that Zion is being framed by Erwin? And you want me to help him out?"

Hansel sighed. "He has been my

dear friend for a very long time, and I

don't want to see him meet a

horrible end. So, if he really is framed, please help him out, Nathan. However, if he really did commit those crimes, then ignore him. He deserves to be punished for what he did in that case."

Nathan nodded. "Okay. I'll do my best to fulfill your request, Mr. Windsor."

"Be careful of one thing, though," Hansel reminded.

"What is it?" asked Nathan with curiosity.

"It's about President Woods. You have to sound him out and find out his stance on this matter. If Garrett supports Erwin, then you should let the matter go and don't go against Garrett. There's no need to offend the president just to help Zion out. However, if Garrett is just doing things by the books, then you can help Zion out."

Nathan remained silent for two seconds before replying, "Okay. I'm planning to go to the White House tonight anyway. I'll take this opportunity to ask him whatche

thinks of the matter."

Hansel waved his hand. "Thank you, Nathan. I'm feeling a little tired, so I'll be heading back home to rest now."

"I'll see you out, Mr. Windsor."

Nathan then helped Hansel leave the private room. Camilla, Penny, and the others quickly approached Hansel to see him out. Hansel's driver had been waiting inside the car for quite a while by the time Hansel arrived at Indigo Palace's entrance.

Flanked by Camilla and the rest,

Hansel entered the car and left.

Right after that, a sedan and two military vehicles appeared in front of Nathan.

Colin had brought the Elite Eight and the other subordinates over to pick Nathan up.

Nathan entered the vehicle with Penny.

Colin, who was driving, asked, "Are we going back to the headquarters, Chief Cross?"

"No." Nathan shook his head. "Let's go to the White House. I want to visit the president and have a chat with him for a bit." Colin nodded. "Roger!"
