Chapter 845
Lizzy glanced up at the sky, feeling utterly speechless. Over the past few years, Nathalie had been a powerhouse in the business world, radiating a natural confidence. But when it came to the person in prison, she turned into a bundle of nerves, dragging her feet at every turn.
"Alright, I'll go," Lizzy sighed, clearly not thrilled.
But she was back before you knew it. "Hey, sis."
"Why are you back so soon?" Nathalie asked, puzzled.
Lizzy shot her a knowing look, and that's when Nathalie noticed Ashley trailing behind. It was like the universe had handed her exactly what she needed - it was her lucky break.
Nathalie had never been so glad to see Ashley.
"Ashley, what brings you here?" Nathalie asked, trying to sound welcoming.
In stark contrast, Ashley's eyes were puffy from crying. "Did you hide Morris somewhere?"
Nathalie was taken aback, left without words.
Lizzy, clearly irritated, snapped, "Your fiancé goes missing, and you're accusing my sister of hiding him?"
Ashley blushed, realizing she might've jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Panic was bubbling in Nathalie's chest. "Nathan's missing?"
She turned on Ashley, furious. "Aren't you his fiancée? How can you not know where he is?"
Ashley stammered, "I thought he might go back to the Rowland estate or the McCoy mansion, but he didn't. None of us know where he is."
Nathalie glanced out at the darkening sky, worried sick. Nathan wasn't in the best shape, and the idea of him out there alone was terrifying.
Suddenly, she slapped herself hard, frustration pouring out. "Knowing he doesn't get along with his dad, how could you bank on those useless relatives of his?"
With that, Nathalie grabbed her car keys and dashed out like the wind.
Brooklyn Bridge.
Morris had been there from morning till dusk, his stomach so empty it felt like it was caving in. Sleeping was his only escape from the gnawing hunger.
Even then, he couldn't help but quip to himself, "Morris, are you planning to starve here?"
Just then, a sandwich landed on his chest, jolting him awake.
He looked up, only to see a pair of familiar eyes that made him frown in irritation.noveldrama
"A sandwich, for you. Eat up," she said, her tone as condescending as ever.
Morris flicked the sandwich aside, letting it hit the ground next to him.
"I don't take handouts."
Greta paused, then casually sat next to him as if they were old pals just catching up: "You're acting all high and mighty, but you'll starve at this rate. Ina dump like under the
Brooklyn Bridge, your high-cverne
family isn't coming for you*
"I know you're waiting for Nathalie,
But you should know, she's at the
top of her game now. Busy making money, probably hasn't given you a second thought."
"Are you finished?" Morris shot her a cold look.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"If you're done, then leave."
Greta flushed with anger, her face turning red and white in waves.
"Morris, you ungrateful jerk. I came here to help you, and you, a cripple, are chasing me away. Just wait and see if you starve."
Despite her harsh words, Greta didn't actually leave. She picked up her phone and called someone.
"Morris is under the Brooklyn Bridge."
What do you think?
