Chapter 6 Send You Off This Once
Chapter 6 Send You Off This Once
I furrowed my brows but I didn’t turn around. This was because someone like her would get more
worked up and agitated the more you argued with her. I wouldn’t bother to continue this squabble with
her.
When I reached the last flight of stairs downstairs, I happened to see Kenneth together with his
underling. They seemed to be waiting for their driver. I went over to greet them out of gratitude.
He shot a sideway glance at me inquisitively, “Are you alone?”
“That’s right.”
I nodded as I stole a glance at him. He was indeed very handsome, and it was the first time I met
someone as impressive as him. Therefore, I was still terrified every time I recalled my actions just now.
I was really too courageous.
He knitted his brows and followed up with another question, “Where do you stay?”
“In the JF Apartment. I am taking a taxi there.”
“Oh.”
As we were engaged in our conversation, a Hummer vroomed to a stop at the main entrance, creating
some noise. That underling of his immediately stepped forward to pull open the car door. He appeared
to be extremely courteous.
When Kenneth got into the car, he glanced at me before muttering, “Get in. I’ll send you this once.”
“…Thank you Mr. Quinn!”
I was a little terrified, but I still got into his car. His underling settled into the passenger’s seat with his
eyes focused on a point in space in front of him. He didn’t even steal any glance at me all the while. I
was really curious as to how he was able to steel his heart in such way with the way he was able to be
so unperturbed by everything.
Perhaps people like them had already reached a very high level of existence in life.
The car sped along the highway, and Kenneth was simply staring out of the window without making a
sound. I sneaked a glance at him and realized that his side-profile was really heartrending. It would be
a waste for someone as delicate as him not to be a star or artist.
“Have you worked in the ‘Golden Emperor’ before this?”
He suddenly turned around and asked me, and I was not able to avert my gaze as his eyes met mine. I
smiled guiltily and started to describe how I left that place. However, I didn’t include my experience of
being framed in my story.
Kenneth continued to listen to my past, but he didn’t comment on it. By the time I was going to alight
his car, he asked, “The boss there, Cooper, is not someone kind. Did he really allow you to leave
without any conditions?”
“I…”
I suddenly blushed. Naturally, I couldn’t tell him about how I was being framed that time. It was a really
shameful part of my life, and it was something I would never want to bring up again. Even until today, I NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
never knew the identity of that man. He was someone that caused me a lot of grief and pain in my
memories.
Kenneth didn’t continue to pursue me as he continued coldly, “Cooper is never the kind person, and
maybe he won’t do anything to you on the surface, but he is going to be on guard against you from the
dark.”
“I will be careful about that. Thank you, Mr. Quinn. I will treat you to a meal next time!”
For someone like Kenneth, he probably wouldn’t be concerned with me treating him to a meal, but it
was all I could do to repay his kindness. I said that to show my sincerity in contrast to really hoping for
him to conform to my invitation.
As expected, he shrugged casually and stopped talking. The man sitting in the passenger’s seat turned
around and watched me with a meaningful expression before turning back to face forward with a smile
on his face.
“Mr. driver, can you please stop at the junction in front?” Seeing that I almost reached my condo, I
hurriedly reminded the driver while I made sure I took all my stuff before getting out of the car.
“What is your name?” Kenneth suddenly asked.
“Barbara Cox.”
“I mean your real name.”
“…Jessica Shaw.”
In reality, I was never one to disclose my real name to strangers, but in front of Kenneth, I found myself
unable to do that. I didn’t dare to refuse answering him.
When the car stopped, I nervously got off the car and never looked back. The car light was cast at my
back, and I knew for a fat that Kenneth’s car was still there. I didn’t know the purpose to his questions,
because as far as I knew, I didn’t have any impression of him. We shouldn’t have met before
this.
