Chapter 52 Who Are You to Talk About Me Like That?
Chapter 52 Who Are You to Talk About Me Like That?
"Lacey!" A scream suddenly rang out.
Lacey instinctively turned her head to look.
Just like that, Theo's kiss landed right on her face.
Immediately afterward, the crowd erupted in a commotion.
"What are you guys doing?" Sophia came running over.
Her eyes were bloodshot as she looked at Lacey and Theo. Her expression was that of a betrayed
wife.
Lacey frowned and reached out subconsciously to touch her cheek, which Theo had just kissed. She
appeared to be a little off-kilter.
What made her even more awkward was when she looked up.
A pair stood just across from her.
With deep, never-ending eyes, Sam was staring over.
A woman with a similar face to hers sat next to him. Her lips slightly raised at the corners.
"Sophia, what are you doing here?" Theo looked annoyed that he hadn't been able to kiss Lacey on the
lips. As a result, he came across as a little harsh.
Sophia was genuinely shocked. She looked at Theo, who had spoken to her in such a harsh tone the
first time and couldn't respond in time.
When the host saw the scene, he rushed to talk and lighten the mood.
The music player immediately played music and turned up the volume.
The gaffer also quickly shone the light on Sam and Lillianna.
They hoped to distract everyone's attention.
Still, the crowd's eyes remained locked on Lacey and Theo.
After all, Lacey had a bad reputation. Even so, she managed to hook up with Mr. Henderson!
Scenes like this were truly fascinating.
"What did you two try to do? Did you want to kiss her? Were you guys planning to do such a nasty
thing in public?" Sophia asked red-eyed.
Nasty thing?
Lacey smiled helplessly.
Ms. Garrison's interpretation of the word "nasty" was quite distinctive. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
"What are you smiling at?" Sophia gave her a stern look. "Everyone knows you're a sleazebag. Since
when have you been invited to my house? Get the hell out of here!"
"Sophia, what are you doing?" Theo grew upset.
"Theo, are you defending her?" Sophia's eyes welled up with tears all of a sudden.
Meanwhile, Lacey was starting to get a headache. She turned around, eager to get out of this mess.
"How could you scream at me over her?" Sophia, however, erupted in anger just then.
Lacey was unsure whether she should leave at this point.
"What kind of nonsense are you on about? Stop it!" Theo took a step forward and reached for Sophia's
arm.
Sophia, on the other hand, quickly retracted her hand and refused to let him hold her. "Take a close
look at her, Theo. Do you have no idea who she is? Everyone in South City recognizes her as cancer.
Who isn't aware that she deceived her brother-in-law and is willing to sell her body for money?"
With that said, the music abruptly came to a halt.
The host, who was holding the microphone, was astounded as well.
Theo noticed that everyone around them was staring over.
He couldn't help but look at Lacey with worry.
"She's good for nothing. She's nothing more than a vixen and a mistress. Why would you be attracted
to this type of woman? Your parents would never approve of her!" Sophia sneered.
"Sophia!" Theo was furious. He grabbed Sophia by the arm and dragged her out.
"What are you doing? Let me go! Let me go—" Sophia struggled to flee.
"Who are you to talk about me like that?"
Just when Theo grabbed Sophia's arm and dragged her past Lacey, Lacey spoke coldly, with sarcasm
in her tone.
Once again, the crowd froze.
Lillianna, who was across the hall, wanted to step up. However, Sam grabbed her wrist and stopped
her from approaching further.
Confused, she looked up. The man, on the other hand, seemed cold and calm, his gaze fixed on the
three people on stage.
Lillianna dared not move again.
The truth was, she didn't want to go up at all. She wanted Lacey to get embarrassed.
She wished for everyone to despise Lacey even more.
Yet, if she didn't go up to help, it'd be evident to others that she intended to humiliate Lacey.
Even if others remained silent, the man next to her would negatively impact her.
"What exactly did you say?" Sophia took a pause and looked at Lacey in disbelief.
Lacey sneered. Her pretty face was filled with mockery.
"Who are you to talk about me like that, Sophia!" Lacey repeated her sentence.
Sophia's pupils gradually dilated.
She could hardly believe Lacey dared to speak to her like that!
Did Lacey have any idea who she was?
"Who are you to yell at me and get all huffy?"
Lacey spoke as she hovered around Sophia. "You're nothing more than a spoiled brat who takes
advantage of your parents' wealth. I bet you wouldn't survive if you were thrown into a strange city!"
She smirked and added, "You call me a sleazebag? How would you feel if it was you who was starved
for three days!"
"I'm a good-for-nothing, you said? Even if I am one, is this something you, the daughter of a wealthy
and powerful family, should say? With that kind of attitude, what's the difference between you and
those shrews?"
Sophia's face turned gloomy at that. " You—"
"To put it frankly, you're nothing more than a parasite living under your parents. Those who are similar
to you, on the other hand, will not shame their parents, even if they cannot offer them glory. Meanwhile,
you're a parasite of a whole different kind. Not only are you keen to embarrass yourself, but you want
the whole of South City to know about it! How original of you!" Lacey chuckled.
"What did you say?" Sophia's face stiffened, and she began to tremble.
"I made it very clear last time that you will only disgrace your parents if you do not change your
arrogant habits. Since you are the daughter of a wealthy family, you should behave like one. Of course,
if you choose to be a shrew and want to be shameless, you are free to do so!"
Lacey had rendered the crowd dumbfounded.
Nevertheless, she had a point.
Indeed, Sophia's arrogance was something that all her peers despised.
"It was you that day?" Sophia froze once more. "Isn't that more proof that you're a—"
She didn't dare say the last word out loud.
Someone of her stature should not utter vulgar words.
Lacey cocked her head, a grin on her face. She then leaned in close to Sophia's ear and asked, in a
voice only the two of them could hear, "Do you want the world to know that your brother was stupid
enough to mistake me for Lillianna? Or do you believe you haven't done enough to embarrass the
Garrisons?"
Sophia's pretty face was overwhelmed by the shock of her words.
She stared at the woman who had the same face as Lillianna. Despite their identical features, Lacey
was much more irritating!
Still, there wasn't anything Sophia could do.
Lacey was right. She couldn't say it out loud.
Otherwise—
"What's going on here?" Suddenly, a grand voice rang out.
The crowd turned to see Alvaro approaching.
At this point, a sense of aggravation took over Sophia. She pouted and ran over to the man. "Daddy—"
Everyone took a step back right away. Lacey was sure to be in trouble!
Meanwhile, Lacey lifted her brows and went straight to the door.
Now that Sophia's father had arrived, she shouldn't stay any longer. Otherwise, people would
mistakenly think she was fearless!
"You're Lacey, aren't you?" Little did she know, Alvaro would call up to her.
Lacey stopped in her tracks and turned to look at the man.
Just then, Sam and Lillianna, who had been standing at a distance, came over as well.
Everyone thought Lacey was going to be in trouble.
"Yes, Uncle Alvaro. I'm Lacey." She was neither modest nor arrogant. She smiled politely at Alvaro.
"Daddy—" Sophia tugged at her father's arm. Her coquettish attitude was palpable.
"You're hired from now on. You and my daughter will eat, sleep, and go to school together for the next
month. I expect you to discipline her."
Alvaro's statements took everyone by surprise.
Lacey was likewise taken aback.
"Daddy, what are you talking about?" Sophia's eyes widened in shock. "Daddy—"
"I heard what you just said. Sophia indeed has many flaws that need to be corrected. Her mother and I
have been so focused on making money over the years that we have neglected her education. What's
more, her brother dotes on her very much. As a result, she has grown even more arrogant. After
hearing what you have said, I figured you could give it a try in disciplining her!" Alvaro's attitude
towards Lacey was in opposition to that of the others.
For some reason, judging by how Lacey had just acted, Alvaro felt that those rumors about her were
not true.
......
"But why me? You're extremely wealthy. Shouldn't there be a long queue of people willing to teach Ms.
Garrison?" Lacey looked at the man suspiciously.
Alvaro couldn't help but laugh. "Who else do you think is more fearless and outspoken than you?"
"Pfft." His words amused Lacey.
"Daddy, why did you hire her? She's good for nothing!" Sophia gushed anxiously.
Alvaro frowned and looked at his daughter with dissatisfaction.
He had long noticed his daughter's arrogance growing due to his overindulgence.
If this went on, it wouldn't be good for her future.
"I don't want her to discipline me, Daddy. Who does she think she is? I—" Sophia tried to fight back, but
when she saw the coldness in Alvaro's eyes, she couldn't.
Lillianna dashed forward and exclaimed, "Uncle Alvaro, Lacey is young and has offended many people.
I fear she is not fit to be Sophia's guide—"
If Lacey were to discipline Sophia for a month, wouldn't that mean she could stay at the Garrisons?
......
She would never let that happen!
"It's all right. After all, we're all at home. Lacey, then it's a deal. You can move in from tomorrow. Wait,
no, tonight!" Alvaro smiled and reached out to pat Lacey's shoulder.
"Daddy!" Sophia was highly dissatisfied.
However, Alvaro ignored her. He turned to face the crowd and said, "Let's keep going, shall we? The
Garrisons will make an important announcement later."
Having heard that, the atmosphere lifted once again.
"Hmph!" Sophia stomped her feet and left angrily.
Meanwhile, Theo's admiration for Lacey intensified.
He'd known she was unique from the start.
However, he hadn't expected her to be so bold.
"Do you want to talk to Dad about this, Lacey? After all—" Lillianna sounded anxious.
Lacey turned to face Lillianna. She couldn't resist glancing at Sam, who stood aloof with a cold
demeanor. With a smile, she said, "Don't worry, Lillianna. I will do everything in my power to complete
this role!"
Lillianna's face turned grim, and she couldn't help but clench her fists.
D*mn it!
"Theo, could you please stay a little longer? I'm a little worried!" Lacey raised a fearful look.
What she said was meant for Sam!
She felt uneasy about the unpredictable man.
"Of course! I'd be happy if you'd stay. Don't worry, no one will bully you here!" Theo was all smiles.
Having heard that, Lacey was relieved.
With Theo around, she should be safe!
After all, she was playing the role of Mr. Henderson's girlfriend.
Sam wouldn't be so bold as to bully his cousin's woman, would he?
