My Mute Wife

Chapter 52 She Cuckolded my cousin?

Facing Myles’ surprised gaze, Lexie gave a bitter smile.

She was married for reasons that were hard to explain.

The library’s security guards arrived, but were stopped by the bodyguards around Tina, and the two sides were at a standstill.

Myles had a calm face, “I don’t care what background you have, this is a society under the rule of law, do you really think the police can’t control you?”

“What are you?” Tina hummed contemptuously and looked at Lexie again, “I was underestimating you, I heard that you are close to Kevin and now another man has popped up. Does my cousin know that you’re out there keeping other men with his money?”

In the face of the people around her, Lexie clenched her teeth and was about to argue, but she was firmly pulled by Myles and shielded behind him.

She looked at Myles’ side face in amazement.

Myles said in a deep voice, “Violence in the street, assaulting person, shall be punished by detention for five days to ten days, openly insulting or slandering person, and in serious cases shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of up to three years.”

Myles’ voice was so loud that even Tina, who was always domineering, felt shock in her heart.

Her bodyguard advised in a low voice, “Miss Tina, if this goes too far, I’m afraid you can’t explain to your father, let’s go back.”

Tina had only just been released by Lennox, if her family knew that she was causing trouble again, she might have to be locked up again, and it would be difficult to get out again.

“Mute, wait, we’re not done with this!”

Tina gritted her teeth and glared at Lexie, leading her men to withdraw.

“It’s okay, everyone disperse.” The library security guard evacuated the crowd.

Myles turned to Lexie, “Are you okay? I’ll take you to the hospital for a checkup.”

Lexie shook her head.

[I’m fine, thank you.]

Myles looked down at her, and said with concern, “Your face is swollen, it’s not a light injury, I don’t live far from here, I’ll take you back and take care of it.”

Tina was ruthless, with that slap, Lexie’s right face was swollen, her hair was messy, and she looked wretched.

There was no way to go to work with this look, and thinking about the gossip that had just been discussed by the crowd, Lexie nodded.

She could be indifferent to what others said about her, but she wanted to explain it to Myles.

Myles rented a duplex apartment a block from the library, very simply decorated and furnished, with paper boxes stacked high in the living room.

“Sit down first, the house is not ready to be cleaned up yet.”

Lexie nodded and took a seat on the couch.

Myles brought over the ice pack.

[Thank you.]

Lexie took the ice pack and carefully put it on her face.

The extremely low temperature collided with the fiery pain in her cheek, and a momentary tingling sensation hit her, and Lexie couldn’t help but shiver as her cheek gradually went numb from the ice.

“Drink some water,” Myles poured water and handed it to her.

Hot air came up from the clear glass, filled the air, and quickly disappeared.

Across the coffee table, Myles also sat down and inquired, “Are you sure you don’t need to call the police? With violence in public and so many witnesses, a case like this can file a sue.”

Lexie shook her head slowly.

Myles was a lawyer, and she knew that he would help whenever she needed it.

But the other party was Tina, a member of the Howard family, so she could only endure it.

[She is the cousin of Alan, the chairman of the Howard Group.]

“The Howard Group?” Myles was stunned, “How did you offend the Howard Group?”

Connecting what Tina said, he suddenly realized something and looked at Lexie in dismay, “You really … got married?”

Lexie’s grip on the ice pack tightened slightly, trying to look calm enough, she nodded extremely slowly, for it was a fact that couldn’t be denied.

A clear look of loss surfaced in Myles’ eyes, but he still managed to give a smile, “Then I should wish you a happy new marriage.”

But it sounded extremely ironic.

“When did you get married, have you had the wedding?”

Lexie shook her head slowly.

How could the Howard family have a wedding when Alan married a mute? Wasn’t that waiting to be laughed at?

And she understood in her heart that the reason Alan kept her around was only because she still had use value for him, and when he had no more value, he would definitely kick her away.

Myles asked again, “What kind of a man is he? Is he good to you?”

Lexie was stunned and wondered why her nose was suddenly sore.

[Pretty good, I … have things to do, I have to get back to work.]

She lowered her head to avoid Myles’ gaze and hurriedly left grabbing her bag.

“Lexie!”

Myles’ voice calling out to her came from behind her, and Lexie didn’t dare to turn around at all, afraid of being seen by Myles with her tears streaming down her face.

So much had changed in eight years, and though she was always warm in her heart when she was a teenager, unfortunately she couldn’t go back.

And on the other side, Tina got into a dark green supercar.

“There’s no need for you to follow.”

After dropping the words and waving off the bodyguards.

With a ‘whoop’ and a roar of the engine, the car quickly drove away from the street.

From the passenger side came Edith’s concerned inquiry, “Are you okay, Tina?”

Tina didn’t say anything with a sullen face, and even though most of her face was covered by the sunglasses, it wasn’t hard to see how gloomy her face underneath the sunglasses looked.

Edith said, “Tina, I know the man who just protected Lexie.”

Tina called her early in the morning to ask her about Lexie’s workplace, and she knew that things were moving in the direction she had expected, and was very happy to follow Tina to be here, wanting to get a piece of the action. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

But she didn’t expect a windfall.

“Go ahead,” Tina didn’t even look at her, stepping on the accelerator under her foot to the bottom and scurrying straight onto the highway.

Edith held on her seatbelt, forcing the discomfort in her throat, “That man’s name is Myles Lawrence, he’s Lexie’s first boyfriend, he’s from the same high school as us.”

“What does it matter to me?”

The car was too fast, several overtaking lane change almost about to hit the guardrail, Edith almost scared out of her shit.

Tina was really a nutcase.

She said sharply, “Myles’ family emigrated abroad a long time ago, and the first thing he did when he came back was to find Lexie, there must be something unseemly between the two of them, don’t you want to teach her a lesson?”

Hearing this, Tina’s feet only loosened.

The speed of the car slowly stabilized.

“Go on,” said Tina, her voice extremely cold.

Edith could not easily calm down, “You have to teach her a lesson, like today definitely won’t work, but what she did with Myles is definitely a legitimate reason, as long as your cousin knows about it, she will definitely have no good consequences.”

“You think she’s cuckolded my cousin?”

“Who knows, but it’s hard for her to explain.”

Tina thoughtfully glanced at Edith through her sunglasses and snorted coldly, “In order to get my cousin to divorce her, you really have no regard for your sisterhood.”
