My Mute Wife

Chapter 51 Is There Enough Wedding Candies?

At night, Lexie went to the study to bring tea to Alan.

“Leave it there.”

Hearing the door open, Alan commanded without raising his head.

Lexie put down the teacup, but stood still.

Alan lifted his gaze to look at her, “Anything else?”

Lexie hesitated for a moment.

[Are you still working on the prescription thing?]

Alan gave her a look, “After missing the last opportunity, it’s indeed a bit difficult to go to your suburban winery again, but it’s possible to take advantage of the wine business to make a trip. Why? You have an idea?”

Lexie shook her head.

She had already seen the prescription and wasn’t going to tell Alan about it yet.

There was no dosage for that prescription, and she was worried that even if she told Alan, he would think she was hiding something.

Alan asked casually, “I heard that last week Peter took you to a winery in the suburbs, what for?”

Lexie’s heart stuttered.

How could she forget that Alan knew her whereabouts?

[He …]

Seeing that Lexie was unable to explain, Alan’s gaze gradually deepened, “What did he tell you?”

Lexie froze and she nodded in her haste.

[He gave me a packet of medicine.]

“Medicine?” Alan frowned, “What kind of medicine?”

Lexie gestured, her face embarrassed.

Alan did not take long to learn sign language, so he could not understand this kind of professional terminology. He lost patience in the end and dropped the paper and pen, “Write it down, what medicine?”

Lexie’s face, however, suddenly turned rosy, holding the pen, she slowly wrote down three English letters – ‘LSD’.

The medicine that Peter gave her was developed by Mitchell Pharmaceutical Group itself, and ‘LSD’ was just a similar drug on the market.

Alan had been in the mall for many years, and had got used to the dark side of human nature. He knew drugs like this type have always been an accessory to the nightclub scene, so he instantly understood what Lexie meant.

“Peter told you to drug me?”

Lexie nodded, her face blushed.

Alan snorted, sneering, “Where’s the medicine?”

Lexie pursed her lips.

[I threw it away.]

She didn’t bring the medicine that Peter gave her back to Howard’s house, and to be safe, she threw it all outside.

“Peter is not treating you like a human being at all.”

The sarcastic voice came from behind the desk.

What Alan said was the truth, and she had no way to deny it, but it was indeed embarrassing to be taunted like this.

[If there’s nothing else, I’ll go to my room.]

Alan nodded slightly.

Watching Lexie walk out, her slim figure seeming to blow down with a gust of wind, he suddenly asked, “Is there enough wedding candies?”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Lexie was stunned and looked back in surprise.

Across a large desk five meters away, under the dim light, Alan’s face was gilded with a soft glow, and even the ghastly scar was a lot more amiable and relatable.

Looking at the scar, Lexie snapped back to attention and nodded in a panic.

[Enough.]

It was panic, even with some fear and resistance, so that her shoulders unconsciously trembled along with her as she nodded, as if in fear that he was going to do something against her next.

The kindness on Alan’s face disappeared instantly, and even he couldn’t tell what he was expecting.

Should a woman who had been coerced into marrying him, a mute who was living carefully, be expected to be grateful to him?

Back in her room, Lexie took her breath violently.

Thinking about how Alan’s face had taken a sharp turn just now, her heart palpitated.

The man’s personality was so shifty and unpredictable.

He had the wedding candy sent over, probably because he wanted everyone in her colleagues to know he was getting married, so that there wouldn’t be any more unexpected trouble that couldn’t be resolved.

After thinking about it, Lexie felt that this was the explanation that made more sense.

Lexie went to work normally in the he following day.

Just after getting off the subway, she received a message from Myles, “Good morning.”

“Morning.”

“Do you usually come to work at this time?”

Come?

When she saw this word, she stopped at the entrance of the library building, looked up from her phone screen, and saw a straight figure from afar, standing at the entrance of the library, waving right towards herself.

Myles?

Her eyes lit up and she immediately sped up and walked towards Myles, after she took two steps, a sharp shout suddenly came from behind her, “Lexie!”

Everyone around the workplace was stunned, and Lexie was even more so, and the moment she turned around, a loud slap fell from the sky and landed hard on her cheek.

Lexie hadn’t even seen who it was, the woman had already grabbed her clothes with one hand, and without saying a word, she pushed Lexie down to the ground, hitting Lexie.

“You bitch, you have to ruin my happiness for you don’t have a happy marriage? I’ll get you killed!”

“Lexie!” Myles ran down the steps and pulled the two apart, scolding that woman, “If you dare hit her again, I’ll call the police.”

“Go ahead!” The woman’s voice was sharp and piercing, “I’ll see who in J City dares to arrest me.”

Despite the insane behavior, her cocky tone was familiar to the ear.

Lexie was protected by Myles, and only now did she see the visitor and was surprised.

It was actually Tina.

“Lexie, are you okay?” Myles’ voice came.

Lexie’s ears buzzed, covering the cheek that had been slapped, she looked at Tina with a bewildered face.

[What are you doing?]

Why did Tina suddenly appear like crazy?

“I really underestimated you, and you are pretending to be innocent? What kind of a thing do you think you are? Just a dog sold to my cousin by the Mitchell family, didn’t my cousin tell you that it’s not your turn to take care of the Howard family’s affairs?”

Tina stared at Lexie with an angry face, “I’m telling you, this matter is not over. Since you make Victor and I feel bad, you won’t be able to live well in the future.”

A series of accusations came down, but Lexie didn’t understand a single word, but she knew Tina must have misunderstood her.

“What Howard family? Marry your cousin? What nonsense are you talking? Lexie, don’t be afraid, let’s call the police, this woman is mad,” Myles protected Lexie, and fished out his mobile phone with one hand to call the police.

[Don’t call the police.]

Lexie tugged on Myles’ sleeve.

Alan had long warned her to be peaceful and not to give him any more trouble, and Tina was a member of the Howard family, so if this became a big deal, the only one who would be unlucky would be her.

There was a lot of chatter around the room.

“Didn’t Lexie just come to work yesterday? There were wedding candies, what’s going on here?”

“I don’t know, is she the mistress to destroy that woman’s family?!”

Myles looked at Lexie, “You’re married?”
