Chapter 251 True Relationship

Chapter 251 True Relationship

Faye was staring blankly in her office when she got Jake's message.

Jake texted again, "You'd better tell him our true relationship earlier, or he would cause us trouble."

Faye texted, "Did you remove the monitor in your office?"

Jake texted, "I can't see the cellphone screen."

Faye texted, "Let's meet to talk about it. Better safe than sorry."

Jake texted, "Tonight?"

Faye texted back, "OK." This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Faye tossed her cellphone on the desk and heaved a long, deep sigh, rubbing her forehead.

Half an hour ago, Colin left her office. The sorrow in his eyes had bewildered her.

Near the end of the working day, Faye went off work in advance, took a taxi to the hospital parking lot

to get her car, and then phoned Jake.

"Meet at the old place?" Jake said with a chuckle.

"I'll be there in twenty minutes," Faye said.

"I'll be there at about the same time. I'm stuck in traffic," Jake said.

More than 20 minutes later, Faye and Jake met in a tavern room.

Jake arrived a few minutes earlier. When Faye entered the room, he joked, "You're late."

Faye strode forward, sat down opposite Jake, and asked quietly, "Who did Colin send to investigate

you?"

Jake pushed a cup of heated wine to Faye, "Your old friend, Alexander."

Hearing that, Faye frowned. "Alexander is not good at face-to-face communication. He's good at

investigating people by some means." She didn't take the wine glass.

Jake took a gulp of wine. "You know him well."

"Did he lose to you?" Faye said.

"I gave him a hug and he gave me 300 dollars." Jake laughed.

Faye was speechless, thinking, "What a wise and cunning man."

"The wine tastes good. Would you like some?" Jake said with his chin up.

"Don't drink and drive," Faye said.

"You can ask your perfect husband to pick you up," Jake teased.

Thinking of Colin, Faye said, "I want to stop my therapy."

"Is it because of him?" Jake gave her a knowing glance.

"Mmm." Faye nodded.

Jake shook his head with a smile. "Love is really... a wonderful thing."

"Unfortunately, you will never experience it," Faye said.

"That is hurtful." Jake raised an eyebrow.

Faye finally cracked a smile. She took a sip of the wine and asked, "It tastes good. What kind of wine is

it?"

Jake rotated the wine bottle. "It's not on the label."

Jake put down the bottle and mentioned his clinic. "Tiffany recently introduced two nurses into my

clinic, and I fired one of them days ago."

"Does she become suspicious of you?" Faye looked at him.

"No. But the nurses in my clinic suspect that I have a crush on you." Jake chuckled.

Hearing that, Faye choked on her wine and coughed. "Is that because they're blind or you've put on a

good act?"

Jake gave Faye a wink. "Maybe there's a third reason that I do have a crush on you."

"Dr. Thomas, don't joke around," Faye said, wiping her mouth with a tissue.

"Faye, you're breaking my heart," Jake said pitifully.

Actually, Jake had a deal with Tiffany. However, little did Tiffany know that Jake had come over to

Faye's side at the beginning.

The driver of the truck that had made Mr. Nash crash into the guardrail was Jake's old friend.

They grew up together, and his friend was three years older than him.

That year, Jake's friend had told him that he was about to make a big fortune. If he succeeded, he

wanted Jake to quit his job in the hospital and just stay at home enjoying his life. In the end, he didn't

make a fortune but instead, he had died on the street.

It was said he had been stabbed to death because he had owed a huge sum to a moneylender.

But Jake didn't believe a spirited teenager would go to see a loan shark.

So he started to investigate the case and found Tiffany was closely related to the case.

But compared with the Farrell's family, the Thomas' family was much less powerful.

Therefore, Jake's father ordered him to stop the investigation.

But Jake didn't give it up. He met Tiffany at a party and induced her to invest in his clinic.

At that time, Tiffany suspected that Faye knew the truth behind Shepard's car accident and was looking

for a clinic to sound out Faye. So the two of them teamed up together.

At the same time, Faye and Jake had teamed up together, too.

Tiffany had installed a monitor in his office to monitor him.

After Faye's first treatment was done, Jake prescribed some medicine for her. At the end of the

instruction for medicine, it wrote, "There is danger in the Farrell's home. Be careful."

Faye held the paper in her hand without showing much emotion. Then they gave telephone numbers to

each other.

Over the years, Jake and Faye seemed not to be close, but in fact, Faye's treatments were all for real.

Tiffany knew nothing about psychotherapy. Besides, every time Faye came for her therapy, Jake acted

in a polite, business-like manner. So Tiffany never got suspicious.

Jake had given Faye physical therapy and desensitization therapy many times before, but Faye

couldn't hold on and gave up.

Jake sipped at his glass and said with a smile, "Your husband is a tough man. Tell him about our true

relationship, or I'm afraid he'll kill me one day."

Faye smiled. "I'll tell him as soon as possible." She was quite surprised that Colin would investigate

Jake.

She thought, "Maybe it was because Jake has left a bad impression on him."

Jake put down his empty glass and poured more wine, saying slowly, "Are you still waiting for a chance

to revenge yourself on Tiffany?"

"I'm plotting," Faye said.

"It has been a dozen years. I can't wait to see that," Jake said.

"Me, too." Faye sipped at her glass.

"Does it feel good when being in love with someone?" Jake said with a half smile.

"Yes." There was a trace of tenderness in Faye's eyes.
