Trust and love
Dexter
She walked away and there was no way I wouldn’t follow her. I’d have reacted the same way she was reacting now if I were in her shoes.
Fuck Edith for being a bitch!
If Lorraine decides to call it quits, then Edith will bear the brunt. She couldn’t interfere with my life like that and go scot-free.
I followed her up the stairs, my chest ripping apart as I noticed that she wasn’t heading to our room. If she knew that I was behind her, she didn’t utter a word.
“Lorraine, please listen to me, we need to talk.” I said calmly, my eyes pleading at the same time, but it didn’t seem to have any effect on her because her eyes were like steel. No emotion could be seen in them.
She dragged in a deep breath like she was trying to calm her nerves. That made me happy because I almost thought that she had no feelings at all. “What do we have to talk about?” She replied sharply, her face radiating nonchalance.
I squinted my eyes in confusion, not knowing what to say. At this point, I’d have to thread carefully or things would become more sour between us.
“Whatever you heard on the phone wasn’t real. It was Edith.” I admitted and her eyes sparked with anger.
She had already gotten to the door of the other room, but she retreated and climbed down the stairs to meet me. “And what the hell did she come to do in your office, Dexter?” She fired at me.
That was the same thing I thought when I saw her after rushing out of the office without my phone. I had an impromptu meeting and I totally forgot to take my phone along, by the time I remembered my phone, it was already late.
If I’d known that my mistake was about to cost me my marriage, I’d have asked my PA to get it for me.
“I don’t know, Lorraine. I left my phone in the office and I couldn’t get it because of the meeting. Upon my return, I met Edith talking to you and with the way she was faking her moans I just guessed it had to be you.” I explained while she scoffed in disbelief.
“You’re just a pathetic liar, Dexter. How did she gain entrance to your office? Didn’t you lock it?” She spat, her voice soaring with uncontrolled anger and fury.
The fact that she didn’t believe me was disheartening, but I chalked it up and made further attempts to explain, then I realised something…
Edith was able to access my office even in my absence, which meant she had someone who could help her out. Well they weren’t so smart because I knew just the right way to get them.
I raised my hands in surrender. “I don’t know how she did but she got in. Why can’t you believe me, Lorraine? I’d never hurt you like that…”
A tear slid down her cheek, shredding my heart into pieces. I made her cry. I caused her pain and I didn’t know what I’d do about it.
“I got back from shopping and made dinner for us just because I wanted to celebrate our love. I got a new lingerie, the type I knew you’d like, so that I could make you happy. Wasn’t my effort enough?” She whispered.
It was obvious that she was broken, and my words alone weren’t going to prove how innocent I was so I dropped to my knees, pinning my gaze on her gobsmacked face.
That’s right. She didn’t expect it.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m trying to convince you that I can do anything to make you forgive me. Tell me what you want me to do to make you believe me and I’ll do it.”
Her eyes softened in a way that I didn’t like. It seemed like she was giving up on the conversation and I was the only one interested in fighting.
“I don’t know, Dexter,” She sighed warily.
Still on my knees, I asked. “Did you ever trust me?”
She flinched, as if I threw a dangerous weapon at her. My lips stretched in a smile as I got the response I wanted. I got up and swept her off her feet.
“What are you doing? I still haven’t forgiven you.” She pouted, but her eyes said something different.
“Are you sure?” I teased her with a wink.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
She kept quiet, not bothering to struggle as I carried her to our room. We didn’t say anything to each other as I dropped her on the bed and sat beside her.
She lowered her head, fiddling with her fingers. “When she picked the call and moaned, my world crumbled. I know that you love me, but sometimes I can’t help the thoughts from straying into my head.” She admitted, and seeing how she avoided my gaze, I knew that it took her a lot to make the admittance.
“I’m sorry, baby. Edith is someone who doesn’t want to take no for an answer, and I seriously underestimated her but she’ll have to pay for this. I almost lost you.” I acknowledged and she rose to her feet, causing my heart to skip.
What would be her response?
Was she going to reject me?
She brought a box from the vanity table then gave it to me. I stared at her with a questioning glance. “What’s this?”
“Just open it.” She chuckled, her eyes shining radiantly.
It gave me some hope so I loosened the ribbon and opened the box. A broad smile crossed my lips as I gazed at the beautiful bracelet seated inside the box. I loved the design and the thoughtfulness behind it.
“I didn’t know if you would like something like this. You’re already rich and I know it’s a small gift, but I just wanted to get you something you can wear around and remember me.” She said nervously.
“I love the gift.” I said happily and stretched my left arm so that she could put it on my wrist.
She didn’t hesitate to put it on, then she kissed the back of my palm and giggled like a teenager who just fell in love. Well, I felt the same way.
“I’m never taking this off. It’s a promise,” I pressed my lips against hers, kissing her with so much intensity and love.
I couldn’t remember getting gifts from anyone. I was always gifting people and not the other way round. Most of my friends and associates usually thought that I was wealthy and they had nothing to offer me, but it wasn’t true.
Behind my stoic facade was a lonely man craving attention, and I was so glad that the woman my heart yearned for didn’t deny me of such love.
She broke off the kiss, her eyes glazing with pure lust. “You need to shower, why don’t I help you with that?” She drawled, loosening my tie and peeling off the silk robe she had on.
Then I saw what was underneath; what I’d have passed up on if I’d allowed Edith to ruin my marriage. She wore a two piece red lingerie set that barely covered her body.
The thong disappeared into her big round butt and her breasts… Gawd, they were pushed up by the bralette, screaming for me to touch it.
Blood rushed to my crotch as I literally undressed her with my eyes. “God, Lorraine, is this your plan?” I growled.
She batted her lashes and turned around. “Do you want to have a shower or not?” She slurred, as she traipsed to the bathroom, her ass jiggling with each step.
I followed her like a robot. There was no way I’d let such goodness pass me by.
