Easton stepped forward and said, “Maddie and Uncle Andrew will divorce soon. Are you sure you want to give those shares to Maddie now, Great–Grandma?”

He must be panicking out of his mind if he could still shamelessly throw a fit here after Elena had been led away by the cops.

Athena glared at Easton over her shoulder, but he continued ranting,” They made a deal to go their separate ways after your birthday celebration. Uncle Andrew agreed to set her free then.”

For all the misinformation Elena had given him, at least this fact was true. He refused to believe that Madelyn would want to be stuck with Andrew forever. She had told him over the phone that she hated. Andrew with a passion.

Madelyn clutched Athena’s arm and said softly, “Grandma, why don’t we wait until after Andrew and I have conceived before we draw up the share transfer agreement? Let’s forget about it for now.”

She destroyed Easton’s line of argument within seconds.

Athena had nearly been swayed by Easton’s words, but her doubts. disappeared after she heard Madelyn express her intention to have children with Andrew.

More importantly, Andrew had not objected to the share transfer when she brought it up that morning. With his sharp mind, he would never have agreed to the matter if he found Madelyn’s behavior

“Maddie, come along now. You too, Mr. Hart,” Athena said.

“Yes, Mrs. Miller Senior.” Josiah trailed after them, his briefcase swinging from his hand.

Madelyn turned around and gave Easton a triumphant look that was laced with contempt, prompting him to shudder. He thought of the way she used to speak to him on the phone, her bell–like voice still ringing in his ears. He hadn’t appreciated her then.

Desperate to stop what was about to happen, he cried out, “Great- Grandma!”

Athena’s patience was at its end. “Ryan, have Easton’s things packed up and see to it that he moves out immediately!”

She had grown sick and tired of Easton after the incident with Andrew. Besides, with the number of grandchildren she had, she couldn’t care less about a rebellious great–grandson who constantly irked her.

Madelyn knew this as well, and she played it to her advantage so that Easton would be kicked out of the Miller residence by today.

A rush went through her when she saw how defeated and miserable

Easton looked. She didn’t even flinch when he shot her a murderous

The share transfer agreement was signed in Josiah’s and Grace’s presence. And just like that, Easton’s plans were ruined.

Madelyn had wanted to wait for Andrew to pick her up from the Miller residence that evening, but she thought about how Carrie had put up those articles for her despite the threats she received.

As such, she left the Miller residence after lunch and invited Carrie to

tea.

Benson followed Madelyn closely. Easton had planned to accost her at the entrance of the Miller residence. However, he wisely backed off when he saw Benson.

Madelyn got into the car and let Benson drive her to her meeting with Carrie. On the way there, she said to him, “Go home without me. I’ll take a cab to the company.”

Benson nodded.

The drive was quiet and peaceful. Easton dared not tailgate them, and things at the Miller residence had already been settled. Benson could return to the company without having to worry about Madelyn’s

safety.

Madelyn went up and found Carrie speaking to a man, their voices. low and somewhat amorous. When Carrie spotted her, she quickly rose to her feet and whispered something to the man. A gentle smile curved his lips as he stood up and left.

When he walked past Madelyn, he gave her a polite nod of acknowledgment. Madelyn returned it.

She pulled up a seat across from Carrie and asked with faint amusement, “New boyfriend?”

“Your idea of ‘boyfriend‘ might be a little different from mine,” Carrie. teased. She was cavalier as she lit up a cigarette and took a long drag of it, puffing a smoke ring in Madelyn’s direction.

Madelyn blinked. Sometimes, she found Carrie hard to understand.

Carrie had her fair share of admirers in the last few years, but none of them lasted more than a month in their pursuit. Her relationships often dramatic ends. One might be inclined to think she had a foul attitude, but that was not the case.
