Connor's voice was deep. "I'm Connor Adams, and he's Jaden Horts. What's the matter here?"

The two men in suits took out their licenses, shaking them in front of Connor and Jaden.

One of them said, "We're from the Anti-Corruption Commission. You two have been found participating in bribing government officials. You must come with us and undergo an investigation."

"What the hell are you yapping on about?" Jaden shouted.

Connor's expression shifted, but he said, "I think you might have gotten things wrong here. Nothing of the sort happened, and we actually have a pretty good relationship with Senator Brady and Earl Hans. This has to be a misunderstanding."

"There's no misunderstanding at all! We've collected enough evidence on you, and we're taking action now. Don't try to resist, or we'll shoot."

As the men's voices rang through the air, the policemen behind them drew their pistols and pointed them at Connor and Jaden.

Another two officers stepped forward to handcuff Connor and Jaden.

Just then, Jaden and Connor's bodyguards rushed over to stop the arrest.

Yet the men in the suits drew pistols of their own as well, shouting, "Another move and I'm going to pull the trigger!"

Elise was scared out of her mind, unclear what happened as she stood frozen to the ground.

Jaden shouted, "Who are you to arrest us? You have no right!"

Connor glanced at the two men from the Anti-Corruption Commission, shouting, "Don't move!"

His bodyguards had no choice but to remain still.

By then, Connor and Jaden had already been cuffed.

One of the men in suits said, "Take them away."

Connor and Jaden were dragged away. Jaden, amidst his panic, shouted, "What are we gonna do, bro?"

Connor turned to look at Elise. "Call Dad right now."

Elise seemed oblivious to what had just been said to her as if she was a soulless husk.

Jaden was overcome with panic, shouting question after question to Connor.

Connor's expression was ashen as he gritted his teeth. "We've been screwed over. This is bad."

"Please tell me you're kidding..." Jaden's face went pale.

Wilbur watched in silence as the two of them were taken away and brought onto a small boat that sped off toward shore.

Wilbur did not know what happened exactly, nor was he particularly interested in finding out.

Just then, Elise seemed to finally snap out of her stupor. Her eyes darted around nervously as she mumbled, "What am I gonna do, what am I gonna do?"

"Miss Elise, Mister Connor told you to call the family." The two bodyguards went forward to hold Elise up, fraught with nerves themselves.

Elise scrambled to get her phone. Yet they were out at sea where the signal was weak, and she could not get the call to go through after multiple attempts. Elise was on the verge of tears.

Wilbur saw this and started to head over but was stopped by the bodyguards. "Don't get any closer," one of them said in a deep voice.

Wilbur took out his phone. "I'm just lending Miss Elise my phone. I have no other intentions."noveldrama

The bodyguards looked at Wilbur, confused.

Wilbur then said, "My phone has satellite functions. It's Dasha's latest technology." "Sorry, we need you to leave. We don't need your phone," one of the guards said. Wilbur was a little stunned. What on earth was wrong with these guys?

Just then, however, Elise grabbed at the phone in Wilbur's outstretched hand.

Alas, she was stopped by one of her bodyguards. "We can't trust anyone now, Miss Elise. Let's get off the ship first."
