Chapter 682
Chapter 682 The Ultimate Sacrifice
God Pyrrhos swung his hands aggressively, and the men performing the ritual were hurled through the air, crashing into the far corners of the field.
The moment their chanting ceased, I felt Arena surge back into me, our bond reforging like an unbreakable chain. She howled in my mind, her fury mirroring my
own.
Kaelvor snarled, his hands emanating thick black smoke, ready to strike. "What are you all doing in my realm?" he growled, his voice laced with venom.
"I should never have trusted you, Kaelvor," my mother seethed, her body trembling with fury as she stepped toward me. She knelt, helping me to my feet, her warmth grounding me amidst the chaos.
Kaelvor let out a mocking laugh, his crimson eyes gleaming with amusement. "And yet, you were fool enough to do so."
"My mother is no fool!" I roared, my voice ringing through the open field.
She wasn't a fool-she was a mother willing to defy fate itself to save her daughter from prophecy.
"But you are foolish enough to believe you could control the Ancient Wolf," Arena's voice echoed through me, her rage radiating in every word.
Kaelvor's expression faltered for the first time.
"Now," Arena growled through me, her voice a deadly promise, "prepare to face the consequences of angering me, God Kaelvor."
With a furious snarl, she took full control, her instincts overpowering mine as she lunged at him.
Kaelvor's hand shot up, crackling with dark energy, prepared to strike her down- but his attack was cut short.
A fiery explosion erupted mid-air, shattering his magic before it could reach us.
God Pyrrhos stood tall, his divine flames blazing, his outstretched hand glowing with power. His golden eyes locked onto Kaelvor with pure, unrelenting fury.
"You will not harm her," Pyrrhos declared, his voice ringing with divine authority. "Now, prepare to face your demise, God Kaelvor," the Moon Goddess warned, her voice resonating with divine authority.
Kaelvor stumbled back, his once-arrogant demeanor shattered. "You... you can't kill a god," he stammered, his terror evident as he eyed them warily.
"Oh, but we can," Goddess Sylvara declared, her piercing gaze unwavering. "When a god abandons his duty and seeks to destroy the very world we were created to protect, he forfeits his immortality."
Kaelvor barely had time to react.
With a single nod, the Moon Goddess, God Pyrrhos, and Goddess Sylvara joined forces with the High Priestess. Their combined power ignited into an unstoppable force, a surge of celestial and elemental energy colliding with Kaelvor in an instant.
His agonized scream barely echoed before his form was consumed-reduced to nothing but ashes, scattered in the wind.
The silence that followed was deafening.
I had just witnessed the impossible—the fall of a god.
But the battle wasn't over.
The three red moons still loomed overhead, growing even brighter, their crimson glow painting the sky in an eerie light.
A new dread settled over me.
"Goddess, the doomsday has arrived earlier than the prophecy foretold," my mother whispered, her voice trembling as she turned to the Moon Goddess, desperation in her eyes. "What does this mean?"
"This is not natural, Thalassa," the Moon Goddess replied, her voice calm yet heavy with concern. "The forces of evil have accelerated it. Now there is no other way to stop it."
Panic clawed at my chest. "Then what must we do?" I asked, determined to do whatever it took to stop this apocalypse. If the world was truly on the brink of destruction, I couldn't just stand by-I had a family, a mate, and a son to protect.
Goddess Sylvara turned to me, her expression solemn. "Only the ultimate sacrifice can stop it."
I exhaled sharply.
I already knew what I had to do.
'Arena, you can leave me now,' I whispered to her, knowing my end was only a moment away.
'No, Selena. You're not alone in this... You are my other half and I want to do it with you,' she replied, and I smiled at my stubborn wolf.
With resolution tingling in every fiber of my being, I stepped forward.
Mother cried out, grabbing my hand to stop me. "No! She is pregnant. If she dies, her child will go with her. That's unfair, Goddess!"
"As per the prophecy, the Moon Goddess must make the sacrifice. If not Selena, then the Goddess herself must take her place," God Pyrrhos reminded us.
"No! The Moon Goddess cannot do this-the world needs her," I shook my head. Then I turned to face my mother. It's okay, Mother. Perhaps my child is also destined to save the world." I tried to smile, but Mother's eyes glistened with remorseful tears.
She took a deep breath before turning toward the Moon Goddess. "Please, show
us a way to stop this and save the world."
“If not me, then only my descendant-or one who carries my powers-can make
this sacrifice," the Goddess said serenely.
I looked at my mother, who seemed lost in deep thought.
Suddenly, I felt the scorching heat as the moons drew dangerously close. If they had already neared the Dark Realm, then they must be even closer to the rest of the world, bringing the apocalypse-the end of everything.
The entire sky blazed crimson, casting an eerie glow over the land as waves of molten lava surged forward, spreading wider with each passing second. The heat was suffocating, the air thick with the scent of burning ground.
"Let me go, Mother," I pleaded, trying to pull my hand free from her grasp.
She turned to me, her eyes filled with something I had never seen before pure, unfiltered motherly love. For the first time in my life, I felt the warmth of her affection, and my heart clenched with emotions too powerful to name.
Tears welled in my eyes as she leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead. "I love you, my daughter," she murmured. Then, as she pulled away, her trembling fingers brushed against my hair in a final blessing. "May you live a long life,” she whispered.
Before I could react, before I could even process her words, she stepped toward the seething lava and, without hesitation, walked into its fiery embrace.
"No!" A scream tore from my throat as I lunged after her, my tears blurring the horrifying sight before me. My mother-my mother-was disappearing into the inferno, her sacrifice swallowing her whole.
Just as I was about to follow, a firm hand caught my wrist, holding me back. Gasping, I turned to see the Moon Goddess standing beside me, her expression calm yet sorrowful.
"Let her go, Selena," she said gently, though her voice carried the weight of the universe.noveldrama
I shook my head frantically, my body trembling with grief. "No... My mother-"
"It is her destiny. By saving the
universe, she will find her salvation, freed from all the ties that bound her. She will be absorbed into the Almighty, at peace for eternity, the Goddess explained, but I was too overwhelmed by the sorrow and pain of losing my mother to fully grasp the deeper meaning behind her words.
