CHAPTER 16

I went down stairs to make breakfast.

"Good morning ma" Ayo said as she walked up to me from her room.

"How are you this morning dear" I asked with a smile as I walked into the kitchen.

"Very well thank you" Ayo responded

"You seem very excited this morning ma, I haven't seen you like this in a while" Ayo said and I just

looked in her direction with a smile.

"I am just really happy today" I said

"So, we are making Jollof rice this morning, can you please help me bring the rice out from under

there" I requested.

"Here ma" Ayo said handing it over to me.

I poured the rice in a bowl and as I was about to rinse it, I looked in Ayo's direction and realized she

wasn't really looking as jovial as she always did.

"Is something the matter" I asked

"I want to talk to you about something that's it" she responded.

"Okay, I am all ears" I said

"Our exam form came out last week and i just wanted to let you know that registration has started" She

said in a rather low tone.

"Is that it, I was the one who told you to inform me anytime it is out, you should have come up to me

since" I said

"You haven't really been available that's why" She explained

"So, I will give you the money today, remind me once I am done cooking and then we will sort it all out"

I informed.

"Thank you very much ma" Ayo said with a smile.

"There is no need to thank me really" I said.

"And I will be doing the cooking so just go to your room and read for your upcoming exam. Alright"

"Thank you ma" Ayo said and she walked out to her room. She was such a lovely girl to be around and

she reminded me so much of my self as a young teenager.

As I was cutting the onions, I felt a hand behind wrap around my waist and as I looked over my

shoulder I realized it was Ridwan. I smiled and he turned me around as I dropped the knife in my hand.

His hands were still around my waist as he pulled me closer to him. I wrapped my hands around his

neck as I gently played with his hair. He kissed me on the lips while I just smiled thinking about how

much I missed us like this.

"So, is there no work today" I asked curiously.

"Of course not, I miss you so much, you do so much work these days." I said

"I decided to spend the day all alone with my favourite person in the world. So today is my day off"

Ridwan said and I just smiled.

"That's good cause I have missed my husband so much" I said leaning in for another kiss.

"I miss you so much to" Ridwan said as he kissed my forehead.

"I will soon be done with the food, I just need a few minutes more" I said

"Anything I can help with" Ridwan asked.

"At all, There is nothing I can't handle alone" I said.

Ridwan let go of his hands on my waist as I then continued to cook.
