Chapter 96
Although Zachary did resemble Jack, they clearly weren't the same person.
Earlier, Natasha had touched Zachary. She could tell he didn't have abs.noveldrama
She wasn't exactly an expert on abs, though, so she wasn't sure if they would still be defined after a full meal, or when the body had relaxed-especially when she traced her fingers over them.
"Ms. Bradley, do you mean what you said?" he asked carefully.
Zachary had learned his lesson the last time. He wasn't about to speak recklessly again.
"Of course I am. I always mean what I say," she replied, raising an eyebrow at him. She still couldn't quite figure out what he was trying to imply.
"In that case, collaborate with me. I want you to lead the project," he said.
Zachary opened the car door again. Natasha tilted her head, confused.
"Get in. Let's go somewhere quiet so we can talk properly."
Natasha didn't have many options, so she followed him into the car.
About ten minutes later, they pulled up in front of a research facility. She had seen this place before but never knew what it was used for.
"This research facility already has an experienced team. It's being prepped for the research project Mr. Anderson plans to carry out," Zachary explained.
With that brief introduction, Natasha got a general idea of the place.
She had to admit that it really did live up to the Foster Group's name. The facilities inside were top-notch, and the dorms were only a short walk from the research facility.
"The project does seem promising. But I don't think I'm qualified for the role," she replied honestly.
Natasha knew her own abilities. She turned him down without any hesitation.
But before Zachary could reply, he suddenly pulled her into his arms. "Watch out!" he called out.
A cyclist zoomed past them at high speed, the bike brushing against her back. If he hadn't moved her in time, she probably would've been hit.
"I believe in your ability. Besides, I trust Mr. Anderson's judgment," he reassured her.
The truth was, it wasn't even Zachary who chose her for the role. He was simply acting on Quentin's request.
"Mr. Anderson seems to think a little too highly of me," she said.
Natasha figured he was just using Quentin as an excuse. Zachary was more than capable of telling whether she was fit for the team. He didn't need to go to such lengths just to get close to her.
"Let me tell you something. Liana doesn't have any major deal breakers. As long
as you keep treating her well, she's bound to be charmed by you."
Though she spoke confidently,
Natasha couldn't shake a small
pang of guilt. After all, Owen ha
by Liana's side for years. Yet, they still hadn't made it anywhere.
"Liana? What are you talking about? What do you mean by treating her well?" he asked, confused.
Zachary looked completely lost. He had no idea why she suddenly brought that up. But she simply gave him a knowing look and patted him on the shoulder.
"Anyway, since you've helped me out so much, why don't you give the position of project lead to someone who's more qualified? I'll still help
you win Liana over," she said,
nodding her head firmly.
Zachary was still confused. He was about to nod along until he realized what she meant.
He shook his head quickly and replied, "I'm not trying to pursue Liana. And as for this project, you're the only person for the job."
Seeing how serious he was, Natasha didn't press any further. She simply began sharing a few details about Liana here and there.
Zachary remained confused the whole way. He wasn't sure when things went off track.
What do you think?
