Chapter 90
Natasha's reaction had genuinely caught the man off guard.
Since she hadn't revealed anything about what she did, the tension in his expression eased considerably.
"If I ever get the chance to leave this cruise ship, I'll definitely come looking for you," he said.
The man found her fascinating and couldn't help but chuckle.
"By the way, I noticed you have a lot of scars on your body. Were you constantly injured before?" she asked.
Even the area of his current wound had clearly been injured before.
The man's expression darkened at her question. "There are some things you shouldn't ask," he replied.
Natasha opened her mouth to speak. She hesitated but still decided to ask.noveldrama
"Is the murder on this cruise ship related to you? Are you the killer?" she asked again.
Usually, she trusted her intuition without question. But this man was surrounded by so much mystery. For once, she didn't know what to believe anymore.
"It's related to me, but I'm not the killer. Don't worry."
With that, the man lay back down on the bed. Before she could ask anything else, he had already fallen asleep.
For the next few days, Natasha barely left her room. Luckily, Liana had randomly stuffed a bunch of crackers into her luggage. The meals Xavier brought her were just enough to get her by.
Since the man was still recovering, Natasha quietly nibbled on her crackers.
About two days later, when she woke up on the couch, the man was already gone. She searched the entire room thoroughly but found no trace of him.
"Ms. Bradley, would you like us to clean your room?" the housekeeping staff asked from the door. Since the man had left, Natasha let them change the bedding and tidy the space.
That afternoon, Xavier rushed over to Natasha excitedly. He told her that the murder case had been solved and the cruise ship would be docking at the Port of Cendale that evening.
But Natasha didn't seem as thrilled at the news as he had expected. She didn't ask much about the case either.
She simply assumed the mysterious man had crossed her path by chance. If he had done something wrong, justice would catch up with him eventually.
Later that afternoon, Natasha finished packing and left her room. Zachary naturally reached for her luggage when he saw her.
"Your ankle's probably still healing. I'll carry it," he said. His tone left no room for refusal. So, she didn't argue and handed him her luggage.
Meanwhile, Xavier looked visibly annoyed. He had been the one who carried her bag when they first came.
Natasha felt helpless. She had only tried to lighten his load. Yet somehow, Xavier still seemed upset.
Once they returned to land, Xavier seemed like a completely different person.
Luckily, none of them were prone to seasickness. Otherwise, they would've been like Quentin, whosez face turned pale the moment he
stepped off the cruise ship. He immediately rushed to the side and threw up.
"Oh, right. Mr. Anderson, did they manage to find your assistant?" Natasha asked,
only just remembering.
The look on Quentin's face said it all before he even answered.
"They identified the 12 bodies. He wasn't among them," he replied.
They had all boarded the ship together. How could someone just disappear into
thin air?
"It's no big deal," Quentin added. "He and I were just acquaintances. If he decided to leave, there's nothing I could've done to stop him."
What do you think?
