Chapter 89
Natasha didn't have the proper medical tools to treat a wound like that. As such, the situation put her in a difficult spot.
She could only make do with the limited medical supplies she had. She cleaned the wound carefully and treated it as best as she could. Then, she wrapped a thick layer of gauze around it.
But it didn't take long before the gauze was soaked through with blood. There had to be a spot that wouldn't stop bleeding.
Natasha felt anxious and helpless. There was no way for her to leave her room and search for better medical supplies. If she did that, it would only draw attention. Right now, her only option was to suture the wound shut.
It was a large wound. If it wasn't stitched up soon, it could lead to serious inflammation in the abdomen area. If the wound became inflamed, the man wouldn't survive without proper hospital treatment.
Natasha rummaged through her luggage. By some miracle, she found a needle and a thread.
She probably wouldn't even have that much if Liana hadn't thrown a bunch of random things into her luggage.
Once she was ready, she didn't hesitate. She stitched the wound using the most basic method.
Her technique was far from refined. The black thread wove in and out of the skin in a rough criss cross. From a distance, it looked like a giant centipede had found its way to the man's abdomen.
She finally let out a breath of relief when she finished.
Just then, Xavier called from outside the door, "I brought you some food. Open the door."
At that moment, there was a strange man lying on Natasha's bed. The sheets and blanket were both stained with blood. If Xavier came in now, there would be no way to hide it.
"I'm not hungry. Just leave it at the door," Natasha responded quickly.
"Not hungry? Come on, it's no big deal for me to bring it in. Just open the door already," Xavier insisted. He stood there holding the food, his patience clearly wearing thin.
If Zachary hadn't walked past the door at that moment, Xavier might've kept pressing her.
"Give it to me. I'll bring it in for her later," Zachary said.
Zachary reached out calmly, but Xavier didn't look pleased.
"What's that supposed to mean? Just because you're close to Natasha doesn't mean that I have to be nice to you," Xavier retorted.
He still didn't have a good impression of Zachary. He only held back from making a scene for Natasha's sake.
Zachary wasn't fazed. Xavier's words passed over him like the wind. In the end, Xavier had no choice but to hand over the food to Zachary.
The two had argued outside for so long, but Natasha still hadn't opened the door.
Zachary held the tray and said
nothing. He just knocked lightly and placed the tray on a chair outside her room. Then, he turned and walked away.
It was as if there was an unspoken agreement between them. Natasha waited for five minutes-just long enough for Zachary to have left. Then, she opened the door and brought the food inside.
"Thanks," she texted Zachary as she began to eat.
She had been busy all day, and her stomach growled from hunger.
As she waited for a reply, the man on the bed woke up.
"Is this how you treat your patients? I heard them call you Natasha just now," the man said.
He sat up and got off the bed with ease. Though his face was pale, his steps were steady.
Natasha was stunned. It was the first time she had seen someone with such strong vitality. From being unconscious, to getting stitched up, then waking up-all of that
happened in just a few hours.
"I'm kind of hungry," he stated casually.
The man sat in front of her. He picked up a set of disposable cutlery and started to eat with relish.
"C-Can you come with me to do some research?" Natasha asked. She caressed her chin and studied the man with genuine curiosity.noveldrama
The man chuckled and replied, "I thought you would be asking things like why I'm here. I didn't expect you to invite me for research."
What do you think?
