Dumping Him for His Uncle (Natasha and Zachary)

Chapter 66

"Who the hell are you?" Julian finally stepped out from the bushes, demanding a response from Xavier.

He had been following Xavier all the way from the ballroom but hadn't gotten any clear answers yet.

Julian vaguely remembered seeing him once before at the lab. But why was he here at a business gala where only the elite were invited?

"Instead of being so concerned about who I am, maybe you should tell Mr. Foster to behave himself," Xavier said coolly.

Julian's expression darkened. "What Mr. Foster does has nothing to do with you."

Xavier took slow, deliberate steps toward him until he was standing right beside him.

"If he dares hurt my friend, I'll make sure he regrets it," Xavier said in a low voice. With that, he turned and left the gala.

Julian stayed behind, piecing things together. He had a pretty good idea who Xavier was referring to.noveldrama

Without wasting time, he hurried back to report everything to Zachary.

"Find out who he really is," Zachary ordered after hearing the report.

Up until now, Xavier had been completely off his radar. But now, things were starting to take a strange turn.

On her rare free weekend, Natasha headed straight for the library first thing in the morning. She had a lot she wanted to get done, and just thinking about it filled her with energy.

It had been ages since she last felt this eager to learn.

She picked a quiet corner, hauled a huge stack of books over, and settled into her

seat.

The lab project was finished, and aside from helping out on a few experiments over the past few days, she'd mostly spent her time reading.

This rare and peaceful time allowed her to forget all her worries.

"I can't believe I ran into you here."

Matthew pulled out the chair across from her and sat down like he belonged there.

Natasha didn't even glance at him.

Seeing her complete indifference, Matthew grew a little uneasy.

"I'm sorry. I misunderstood you before," he said awkwardly.

He was referring to what he had assumed about her and Zachary.

He kept talking, completely absorbed in his own words. Still, Natasha didn't respond at all.

"I don't suppose you could help me talk to Ms. Spencer? Nicole knows she was wrong this time. It's been long enough. There's no need to keep pushing things, right?" Matthew said.

At that, Natasha let out a cold laugh.

"So that's why you're really here. Matthew, do you seriously think I'll still do whatever you ask?" she said.

Given Matthew's personality, he should have been angry by now after hearing those words.

But when he looked at her now, there was only confusion and a hint of regret. They had been close to getting married once.

Because of what happened with Molly, Nicole's reputation had been tarnished in the circle, all of which was thanks to Molly, of course.

Natasha hadn't asked Molly to do it. She figured Molly had acted out of pure anger. Anyone who had been lied to and used so thoroughly would've wanted revenge.

"Molly's decisions aren't any of my business, and I don't want them to be. If you're done, you can leave. I'm meeting someone," Natasha said flatly. She snapped her book shut and met his eyes coldly.

"Meeting someone? Who? Are you meeting my uncle?" Matthew asked, his eyebrows knitting together. His voice rose sharply, drawing annoyed looks from the people around them.

"What's it to you?" Natasha asked, her patience wearing thin. But she couldn't just

kick him out since they were in a public place.
