Chapter 287
After taking a photo, the two women left with smiles on their faces. Just before walking away, they secretly snapped a photo of Edward and Janice strolling side-
by-side.
To them, it was clear that Edward and Janice of Prosper Stitch Group were definitely a couple. They were even grocery shopping together.
As the two women walked off, they started whispering.
"Edward is so young and handsome," one of them said.
"Money really changes everything, huh?" the other replied with a touch of envy in
her voice. "I'm jealous of any woman who's got a boyfriend like that."
"And Janice looks even better in person than in photos," the first woman added.
...
Edward and Janice left the mall after finishing their grocery shopping. Edward was driving, with bodyguards in a car trailing behind.
"I'm taking the next two days off," he said, his eyes on the road.
Janice raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You're really taking two days off?" she asked with a hint of disbelief in her voice.
With a company as big as theirs, there was always something going on. The chairman was often busier than the employees, and even rest time had to be squeezed in.
"To spend time with you," he replied.
Edward rarely drove himself. Janice watched him as he drove, her gaze softening with tenderness.
She had a thing for tall men, men who looked good when they were driving, and men with great singing voices. Of course, those were just her preferences. She didn't expect her partner to have all of them. But so far, Edward met the first two. "We haven't really had any time to rest since we got together," Edward said. "How about we go shopping or watch a movie?"
A simple life was what Janice had always longed for. But now, it felt like a luxury. Noticing her silence, Edward glanced at her. "You don't have a choice; you need to take a break. Your boyfriend needs some attention too," he said.
Janice sighed. "But I have so much work to do—"
"Are the people you're paying just sitting around doing nothing?" Edward cut her off. "If you have to do everything yourself, what's the point of having them?"
"Alright, alright!" Janice laughed, finally giving in. "The boss has spoken. How can I say no?"
Before they arrived home, Janice forwarded Barbara's crochet designs to the supervisors. She instructed the seamstresses on the specially formed National Museum crochet team to start working on them right away.noveldrama
As for the million-dollar bridal set, she had her own workstation at home, so she could work on it there.
Edward was acting a little out of character today. Not only had he done grocery shopping himself, but he was also cooking. He was like the perfect boyfriend came to life.
After dinner, Janice was sipping water when Edward suddenly pushed open the door to her crochet room.
"Come here," he said.
"For what?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Edward leaned casually against the doorframe. "You said you'd teach me to crochet when you had some free time."
She vaguely remembered him mentioning it once-something about wanting to learn so he could make a wedding gown himself. Janice had figured he was kidding and brushed it off. She hadn't expected him to take it seriously.
But when Edward sat at her desk with a hook in hand, looking eager to learn, she couldn't help laughing.
"No, seriously—you look so out of place sitting here. Maybe we should put this idea on hold for now?" Janice said.
Edward didn't budge. "Are you judging me by my looks now?"
"No, it's just. You..." She faltered, searching for words.
Janice glanced at him. He was
dressed in designer loungewear and wearing glasses worth tens of thousands. His hands, usually used for signing multi-million-dollar
contracts, were now holding a crochet hook as he sat at her desk.
Janice sighed, giving in. She grabbed a small chair and sat next to him. "This book covers the basics crochet techniques, types of thread and so on," she said, handing it over. "Take a look at it first. Once you've got it down, we can start."
With that, she pulled her own desk closer and began working on the wedding gown.
Edward flipped through the book while Janice crocheted. The only sound in the room was the rustle of turning pages. The atmosphere was harmonious as they sat across from each other.
Janice had barely finished a couple of stitches when Edward suddenly said, "Done. I've got this."
She glanced up, surprised. "You're done already?"
Edward set the beginner's guide aside. "This thing's got fewer words than the
math formulas I memorized in high school."
Janice didn't doubt his memory. She
stood up and walked over to him. "Okay, wedding gowns usually use lace crochet, and you tweak the
stitches depending on the style.
Try
following the patterns in the book, one by one. Let's see what you can do." śwnovel
"Okay," he said, grabbing a crochet hook and getting straight to work. Janice stood there with her arms crossed, keeping a close eye on him.
What do you think?
