Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 258

Edward kissed Janice's earlobe. "I'll be gentle."

Janice slowly closed her eyes and began responding to his kiss. That night, they stayed up later than usual.

Edward's mind kept replaying the way Janice had been different tonight. She wasn't like before. Tonight, she exuded a unique allure—especially passionate and eager. At one point, he had nearly lost control.

"Janice, you're acting differently tonight. Did something happen while I was away these past few days?" Edward held her hand, pressing it gently in his palm.

Janice turned her head, her eyes curving mischievously. "It's because I missed you."

As CEO, she was always concise and decisive in speech, swift and efficient in action. But in private with him, she would sometimes soften her tone and even show a playful side. Edward found it utterly endearing.

"By the way, the overseas price reduction plan I proposed-do you think it'll work?" Janice asked, shifting to business.

"Onley Group won't agree to it that easily," Edward replied.

Janice thought for a moment. "They must have spent quite a bit trying to force us into losses, right?"

"Easily over several hundreds of millions. Over there, people have no choice but to restrict our goods due to the pressure exerted by Onley Group. But fortunately, a few have reached out to me privately to buy from us," Edward said lightly.

But Janice knew this was no small matter. It wasn't just about not making money anymore; it was about taking massive losses.

"Give me a few days off. I need to go somewhere."

"For what?"

"If Onley Group can block our goods in their own market, why can't we stop them

in ours? After working at Refined Threads Co. for years, I know plenty of store owners."

Janice didn't want Edward to keep throwing money to fight off competitors.

"Wait two days. I'll go with you."

"Absolutely not! You're the chairman of Prosper Stitch Group. How can you personally go around negotiating with store owners? I'll do it."

Her concern for him stirred something deep inside Edward. He fell silent for a long moment before saying, "I had Harrison order a custom-made display cabinet. You can put all the gifts you've received inside."

"I don't have that much jewelry. I don't need a cabinet."

Edward closed his eyes. "Then buy more. Fill it up."

Janice was speechless.

At another villa in the area, Louis looked down at Simon, who was curled up on the couch. "You set me up, didn't you?"

Because of Simon, a flood of damaging news about Onley Group surfaced in Greenfield City. Louis had spent a fortune bribing the media to suppress the reports.

If this had happened overseas, no one would have dared speak about Onley Group like this.noveldrama

Simon, genuinely terrified, began spewing nonsense. "Mr. Jovarek! That was just a temporary strategy Look, isn't everyone in Greenfield City aware of Onley Group now? This is also a tactic. Bad publicity is still publicity, right?"

Louis kicked him hard. "You think I need that kind of publicity? You idiot!"

"I was wrong! I was wrong! Mr. Jovarek, please don't hit me!" Simon desperately begged for mercy.

Louis indeed had no desire to kill someone in Cruznia. Though he was itching to tear Simon apart, he ultimately held himself back.

Loosening his tie, Louis finally gave Simon one last chance.

"The National Crochet Union is hosting a banquet in a few days. Take this and find a way to slip it into Janice's drink. If you mess this up, you're done. And once that happens... you'll know exactly how this ends." His voice grew.cold.

Louis' gaze was murderous. It was not that he was being particularly patient; it was just that even trash could be useful as a scapegoat.

If it worked, perfect. If not, Simon would be the one caught with the drug. It would have nothing to do with Louis. Wasn't that exactly what Simon had said that day?

Louis glanced at him with open disgust before turning to leave. As he did, he saw Audrey standing at the end of the hallway with her arms crossed.

"How long have you been here?" Louis frowned.

Audrey casually glanced at the small brown glass vial in Simon's hands and then shrugged. "Oh, I've been here for a while. You're such a busy man. It's no surprise you forgot all out me."
